Brown rot on a cherry tree

I have a pretty cherry tree that has always given us a ton of yummy fruit each spring. Last year, the cherries all seemed to rot just as they ripened and we weren’t able to eat any of them. Not being particularily botanical, we figured it was just a bad crop probably due to too much rain or heat or what have you. But then this year, we had a completely different spring, weather-wise, yet the cherries came out the same. I did some googling, and it looks like brown rot.

The tree itself seems perfectly healthy - the bark, leaves, and blossoms were all as robust and clean as ever, it’s just the fruit. All I can seem to find online is advice for commercial orchards. Anybody know what to do when it’s just one pretty little tree?

I’m not all that concerned about the cherries - they’re nice for sure but I can live without them. I would just really hate to lose the tree if this is something that could damage it in the long term.

You have to spray the fruit at proper times to prevent the brown rot.

If you want the fruit, you will have to spray with something. However you have to weigh up obtaining some fruit with the fact that the use of a poison will end up in your organism and those of your loved ones.

I would look for some non-harmful type of spray, beginning with Bordeaux mixture.
