Scifi.com is posting clues as to the identity of the Final Cylon on its website. Anyone following this? So far they have revealed some rather vague hints:
Some vague narrative about the other Cylons.
A sound only file with Kara breathing heavily and scuffling around, and a man (Lee? can’t tell) saying “Kara, what is it? What does it mean?”
Video of a press conference held by Lee, being asked about the 5th Cylon, with his answer blocked out. Zarek is there too. Lee walks off and says, “I can’t believe I said that!” I tried to read his lips, and I think he mouthed “Gaius Baltar” but I have no idea if I’m remotely right.
Picture of a baby with the red glowy Cylon spine.
Six and Baltar conversing about which gods Baltar will choose, the new or old. (I may have heard that wrong; she may have said “You or the old gods.”) Six implies if Baltar takes on the gods, he’d be god-like himself.
The Last Supper picture.
They’re revealing the next clue on 12/9. Can anyone make heads or tails out of this? Can’t wait until the season premiere on 1/16.
I’m still not convinced that Xenabot knows who the final cylon is. I don’t think she saw the last face in that temple-holosuite thingy.
Also thought it was stated that the final cylon was definitely not anyone in the “Last Supper” picture. I know I have read that various places, but it could be a misquote or disinformation.
I’m kinda expecting the final cylon will be female…whole buncha male models already…
Cylons age, or at least some of them do. They lose eye-balls that apparently don’t grow back. Don’t see why they couldn’t get cancer and die.
The thing is, there’s no reason at all to believe that the Final Five resurrection equipment is tied up with the system that the others use. Everything else is separate, so the vats of goo might as well be, too. That “clue” with a picture of a baby with the glowing spine? That’s Starbuck. I’ll betcha a buck-fitty that she resurrected after her death in Maelstrom. We saw her damn ship explode right on camera, but that doesn’t matter if the Five can manufacture new bodies for the half-breeds, same as they do for the original models.
It’s a relatively small and insignificant extension of known technology, and if you make that little jump, then almost every plot piece fits perfectly. And from a character perspective, which is the essence of the show, it’s still perfect. The real cincher for me is what a complete mindfuck this revelation would be for Kara. I can just see Ron Moore in a dark smoky room, fingers steepled in front of him, a maniacal deep-throated laugh rumbling from him as he thinks about stabbing her in the heart, then twisting the knife. It’s just too much for the man to resist another opportunity to add even more psychological trauma, while also explaining all of her past psychological trauma.
If Starbuck is a Cylon half-breed, she couldn’t have resurrected after Maelstrom. Cylon resurrection works because they have extra bodies stashed away somewhere, grown for just that purpose. If she was born in the human way, there are no extra bodies stashed away for her anywhere.
Fanwankery or not, it’s been established that the “rules” we (and the fleet) know of what a Cylon is and isn’t capable of are out the window. Toss in the fact that the Final Cylon is not only not a normal one, but too special to hear Watchtower, and there could be a whole new set of rules for this one.
Cervaise- that was one of my gripes of the last half season. Lots of meh episodes and then they cram a ton of shit into the finale.
