Buffy: Dirty Girls (SPOILERS)

I agree. Generally, you work on the not butchering innocent girls and not serving the First Evil before they teach you about the heavy duty theology.

The feeling I get is that magick is dangerous business when it comes to healing organic diseases (like Joyce’s tumor), but is good with healing injuries, when you would basically just be speeding up the body’s own natural healing processes.

Kind of like the “it’s a really bad idea to bring Joyce/Tara back because they died natural deaths, but it’s okay to bring Buffy back because she died a mystical death.”

I missed the first 5 minutes (everything before the theme song and credits). Can someone fill me in?

Then that should bring back annoying, depressive broken arm girl. Or shouldn’t some of the slayer healing powers kick in? Or do they only kick in after you actually become the slayer, not when you’re a Slayer in Training?

I just finally saw it (it was pre-empted) -

Completely Random Thought: I first saw Nathan Fillion when I watched One Life to Live daily (I’m appropriately ashamed) … so I saw him and thought “Joey Buchanan, with a horrible southern accent…” it makes it hard to take him seriously. (A weird twist, I don’t watch OLTL regularly anymore, but I did happen to catch about 5 minutes a week or so ago, and on that show, the character he used to play just became a priest.)

I’m also wondering what they plan to do for money and why no one’s worrying about it - Xander couldn’t have supported them all on his salary.

I do want to know what Caleb’s backstory is, I’m getting sick of the pep talks, and my favorite line was about Angel having darker coloring.

I liked this episode a lot, especially because it finally had some consequences for Buffy being stupid.

Let’s face it-- she did go into the vineyard armed for bear, but she was stupid to go in the first place. They’ve faced an ubervamp-- which was very tough-- and that anytime you face a foe and it pops back up, it’s even tougher.

Yes, this season has been rather poor in terms of consistency, but I think it will improve when it becomes time to watch 'em all together in syndication. With all the breaks between shows caused by reality TV, the timing has lagged immensely.

For a season that started with such great promise, it seems that going back to the beginning for Buffy means being just as confused and conflicted as when she was first called to being a Slayer.

My favorite line was, “Am I the good Slayer now?!” Ah, Faith, where have you been the past two seasons?

I really, really, really don’t get why they didn’t take Willow. I mean, if it’s all safe for her to use magic again (which, well, we never saw when it became safe, but she did all right on Angel, so whatever), wouldn’t she be the most able to kick any ass in sight?

Super-slayer-healing-powers have developed apace with Buffy’s other powers. In the early seasons she was occasionally seen holding an ice pack to her shoulder or elbow. It’s only recently she’s become nigh-invulnerable.

  1. I’ve been expecting Xander to die ever since he gave Dawn the talk about “they don’t realize how left out we are…” I was disappointed he’s still alive - throws off my whole groove.

  2. Of course Giles had to be right about Buffy’s plan sucking. It would be too easy if Giles went stupid since Spike. Buffy needed to be taken down a peg or two.

All in all, a good ep. Buffy is at it’s best when everyone is out of the comfort zone - doing the best with what they’ve got, even if what they’ve got isn’t much.

A few random thoughts -

Ahem, anyway, has anything been done about Giles and Anya going to see that big eye thing and it teling them the slayer line is messed up?

The same thing that’s been done with all the other starts and loose ends this season. Nothing.
Should we start a new BtVS thread? This one’s getting long and it’s a rerun week.
