Buffy: Dirty Girls (SPOILERS)

Speculation about future eps is fine, but I do NOT want to read about what is actually going to happen (especially since this is the last season) in these threads.

I’ve been following this damn show since the beginning and I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’ve never intentionally looked for spoilers on this board or any other. If you know events that are going to happen in future episodes, please be kind enough to not even hint about 'em. There are only a handful of episodes left; just let it go so the rest of us can have a good time being suprised.

As for Father Mal Caleb: has anyone considered the idea of him being a person accidentally chosen as a slayer when he was younger? Thus his being chosen is what drove him downright misogynistically batty?

I know, I know: silly speculation, sure. But what if the Slayer vibe accidentally hit him because of whatever wacky reasoning and we are now seeing the effects of what happens when a male is called.

Whatcha’ think?

I was thinking the same thing Skip. Or wondered if he was some sort of anit-slayer. And I agree with whoever said that his fighting style was pretty cool. I thought the whole “casual” whopping of ass came off great, and made him seem all the more threatening.

I like that “Male Slayer” idea. Why wouldn’t the forces of badness have made their own “slayer” by now? Seems like they would get tired of having their big plans stopped and their big guns demolished.

Maybe Xander gets some kind of cool supernatural prosthetic, and that’s what allows him to see things?

Incidentally, I am really sorry for my multiple posting earlier. Stupid work computer.

Wouldn’t Willow be able to heal Xander with some good ole’ magic? Seeing their history I don’t think it would be to far fetched to consider.

and…

That cracks me up, Sam Hell. :stuck_out_tongue:

At first thought, the idea of the bad guys creating their own anti-slayer (as Atrael and Sam Hell have suggested) just sounds a bit too cliched to me. Like, for instance, KITT’s twin, KARR in Knight Rider; or as in most long-running series where the evil forces have created an instant “equal” of the hero.

Which isn’t to say it ain’t a bad idea, mind you; it’s just that it has been done so often in the past that I hope (if this is what’s happened) that ME manages to pull it off with some freshness. Just IMHO, of course.

I finally watched this ep. I agree with what Sol and Thea say. They seem to be very considerate in making me not care about this show anymore.

And as was discussed above, I guess they don’t choose slayers based on intelligence - or ability to learn from experience. Got really tired of the repeated observations that it was obviously a trap, which Buffy just ignored. And then, having accomplished nothing positive, “run away!”

It is really sad when we are reduced to divining each episode for nuggets of pleasure, like hogs rooting out truffles. This season has been a mess. Has “committee” written all over it.

Magic is apparently all that good for healing in Buffy. At least that was the impression they gave when Buffy wanted Willow and Tara to heal her mom. Then again Willow pulled off some nifty shit to heal Buffy after she was shot. It looks like it is a control/focus and not power issue, which makes sense. After all if you are playing with physiological aspects of people a misstep isn’t going to be pleasant for them. Willow has the insane focus necessary but does she have the control? Besides would she be willing to risk hurting Xander further to restore an eye to him?

A negation of some sort belongs in that first sentence.

I agree- the ‘gang’ got what they deserved for rushing in there. At first, I was dissapointed that this is the final season (being a relative new comer to Buffy), but now I think this show has run its course. Better to end on a somewhat high note then to have it drag into the muck.

Damn horrible what happened to Zander. He’s the most put upon member of the group, then to have some psycho put your eye out…ugh.

Looks like a Pit thread was started over spoilers in this thread. I thought I would help the OP of that thread out and post a link to it here.

elf6c,

Thanks for expressing your feelings. I have been watching the show for the past seven years too and the best part is speculating – even if you’re wrong. It’s pretty easy to get a hold of a script - especially if you can get on the Fox backlot - but I think the viewing is much better than the reading. I personally (and I’m sure that most would agree) that we prefer to see it than hear about it. I realize that I have hijacked this thread, but had to give my two cents.

Still horrified about Zander (and I would kick Buffy’s ass personally just for that),

Sians Mom

Possible nitpick - or flatout being wrong by this lapsed catholic, but didn’t Caleb get transubstantiation kinda backwards?

Caleb said JC turned his blood into red wine, and wondered if he would use his lymph to make white wine.

Didn’t JC do it the other way, turning ordinary bread and wine into his body and blood?

I don’t remember what Caleb said exactly, but you’re right according to the Skepdic’s Dictionary.

I rewound it to be sure. And my wife caught it as well.

Well, no one said he was a competent preacher man.

You could look at the transubstantiation flub like this: the wine served at the Last Supper was (apparently) red. So Jesus said “This is my blood, etc, etc”, and this lead to the Wine-into-blood ceremony in catholic mass (and a metaphorical rememberence in Protestant services, IIRC). So Caleb’s wondering WWJD had they been serving a White Zin.

“This is my plasma…”

ahem Could someone please, please, <Roger Rabbit> pl-pl-pl-pl-pl-pl-please </Roger Rabbit> tell me which of the Mouseketeers – er, I mean – “Slayerettes” have been removed from the potential pool?

sciguy - I got the joke, and found it amusing, heretic that I am.
But then I made the mistake of thinking, and I thought Wait a minute! Doesn’t it go from wine to blood, not the other way 'round?
As Caleb told it, JC would slice himself open, bleed into a cup, and then turn it to wine and pass it around saying This WAS my blood.

Now THAT’S what I consider a major continuation error!

I’m not positive, but I think Chao Ahn and the slayer with the British(?) accent were offed. The black girl got her arm broken.

Can’t say I’m sorry to see the Comic Relief-Non-English Speaker girl go.

Ah, thanks Audrey the bunny-ears reception is just blurry enough that I could only tell that non-blonds had died. (And the UPN logo looks more like WPPM.)

I could discern the arm busting, but I couldn’t tell one was the girl from the “is Dawn a potential?” episode.
