Buffy- fearless predictions for Season Seven

OK, the first one I already posted in my “William the Bloody Awful Poet” thread- namely…

Drawn together by shared intense guilt, Spike and Willow will engage in a romance- probably brief.

Spike will become the season’s Little Bad- mostly as a result of his continued rejection by the Scoobie Gang- in particular, Xander’s antagonism toward the Peroxided One will be a major factor in his downfall.

Spike’s love for Dawn, not Buffy, will be instrumental in his final redemption. (I’ve always thought his paternal/fraternal love for Dawn is purer and more unselfish than his definitely erotic love for the Buffstress.) By the time he comes back around, the Big Bad will have made his/her/its appearance, and once again he will be called upon to fight alongside the Scoobies.

After one final vengeance spree, Anya will quit her vengeance demon job and she and Xander will finally marry.

Dawn will emerge as a Slayer in her own right, now that Buffy and the Scoobies are finally getting it through their thick skulls that she doesn’t have to be watched and protected every moment and she is finally allowed to show her true strength.

Giles will quit the Council, and sort of set himself up as a rogue Watcher.

Buffy will no longer be The Slayer with a capital The- not that she has been since Season Two anyway, but the increase in demonic activity in the world will necessitate there being several Slayers active in the world. Not an army of Slayers, but there will probably be Slayer territories mapped out over the globe. Or something like that.

Not going to make a prediction as to whether our Two Favorite Blondes will ultimately become a couple, but I sure as heck hope they do. Spike looks good on Buffy.

OK, anybody think I’m wrong? Anybody know I’m wrong? Anybody have any predictions of their own they’d like to add, subtract, multiply or divide?

Isn’t Anthony M Head going to be in that watcher spinoff? Has that fallen though?

I’ve heard a rumor that BBC is going to revive Dr. Who with him as the doctor, but I only heard that in one place.

Here’s some spinoff news:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/buffy/news/02011402.shtml

William having just been put back into the driver’s seat of his former body (with Spike the Demon being suppressed), will head back to Sunnydale in order to find out how one goes about getting revenge on a Vengeance Demon, Halfrek/Cecilly. This will be his impetus to return.
He’ll clearly be the big bad but will be a Master-style villain. On account of his chip and his sniveling tendencies he’ll be the henchmen using variety of villain. Perhaps he’ll even have a double agent type thing going, pretending to be Spike while dealing with the Scoobies.

The real speculation is Season 8. Since Gellar doesn’t want to do a movie and the casts contracts run out after 7, what if thye signed them to do a half season. Essentially serialized movies. They can do 16 episodes, to make 4 movies. Which they can release on DVD and Video and FX and UPN can show as tv movies.

Ok, color me  I thought the show was definitely going to end after season 7 here. Here, though, it says, “Asked if he thought Buffy would last beyond seven years, Nick revealed he may be around until season ten. I’m under contract for three more years. It’s up to the higher powers that be. If they want the show to continue, it will, and from what I’ve heard, they do. I just figure, let’s wait till after this season and we’ll find out.”

??

On one hand, I just don’t want the show to end. On the other, I’m not sure what else they can do with it.

As far as Thea’s predictions go, I just can’t see the Spike/Willow thing (still!). I also am not so sure Anya will do the vengeance thing… though I think Xander’s final growht as a character will be to accept demons as not-automatically-evil: Anya, and finally Spike. Spike and Buffy will get together with much ado, though it will be interesting to see how he will convince her he has a soul (can anyone here think of a way he could demonstrate it?).

PLEASE not Spike and Willow! Not just because of the political ramifications of a lesbian going ‘straight’ again, but because hell, everybody doesn’t have to sleep with each other, do they?

Spike well may be this season’s little bad, because it’s not unknown for season seven to recycle earlier seasons’ plots, but it would be deja vu again.

Not too sure about Dawn becoming a slayer, at least not a Slayer with a capital S, because you don’t earn that status, you’re born to it. However, I hope that she does become more independent and use her own strengths more.

I wish Giles would become a rogue watcher of sorts, if it gets him back in the series. Well, you never know! (Is he still in the council at all, btw?)

Several slayers? Nope, no way, not only because it’s against the premise of the series, but because it would cost too much in actors’ fees, and SMG would have a strop if she had to share more airtime. Is there an increase in demonic activity anyway?

Think you’re probably right about Anya.

When you said ‘as to whether our Two Favorite Blondes will ultimately become a couple,’ at first I thought you meant Buffy and Anya, and I thought well, that would be an interesting turn of events …

Sorry to have disagreed with you so much on this one, I didn’t mean to! If I come up with any predictions of my own, I will post them for you to pull apart too.

Do we really have any reason to believe Willow is exclusively gay? I mean, she just had the one relationship. I kinda thought she was simply bi. Her relationship with Oz struck me as genuine. I didn’t seem like she was just a confused girl trying to fit into a straight relationship solely because society expects it. She really loved Oz.

Expanding on that, am I the only one that wouldn’t be suprised to see Willow and Xander get together? Especially if it truely is the final season. I don’t know, there was something about the scene where Xander talks evil Will back to reality that stuck that idea in my head.

QueenAl, of course you’re allowed to disagree, as long as you send me a case of Guinness…

Now, about being born to be a Slayer, not earning it- remember, Dawn essentially took flesh from Buffy- the monks turned the Key into a human by making her out of the Slayer- they are the same flesh and blood in more ways than one.

Also, who ever said anything about SMG having to share more airtime? Just the awareness that there are other Slayers around could give Buffy a complex, without them actually showing up in the show. Also, Buffy has prevented an apocalypse every season of the show (well, OK, Xander stopped the last one), and why should Sunnydale have an exclusive on Hellmouths, anyway?

Buffy and Anya? No. Willow and Anya, that I could see. Also, if Spike slept with Willow,it would make for some very interesting three-way (Buffy, Willow and Anya) conversations that would end abruptly when the Peroxided One entered the room.

I think Willow is gay, simply because she has said that she has no interest in men several times. Exact quotes escape me atm, but one I do recall is something about Anya and Xander playing “shiver me timbers” and Willow saying she wasn’t into “logs.”

Just MHO, of course.

5-HT - really, it is the political side. We have so few lesbians on TV (can’t think of another one, actually, though there probably are a couple), that we can’t afford to lose this one! Additionally, there’s my other point - I’m just fed up of people sleeping with each other! These non-canon relationships are best left to the fanfics, IMHO.

I agree that Willow’s relationship with Oz was genuine, but I’ve had genuine relationships with men, and could never go back to them now. Not going to try to explain it here, though! Just to say that, in real life, it can happen!

I still won’t be watching it.

What? You asked for a fearless prediction!

That was Tara that said that, to Anya.

Willow and Xander might be a possibility if you go by Joss saying that Season 7 is going back to Season 1 (in a way). During Season 1, Willow was very much in puppy love with Xander.

and Spike didn’t make his first appearance until Season Two…
Much hope for great silliness, Spike’s final redemption and many scenes in which James Marsters isn’t wearing a shirt before Season Seven’s end.

If it had just been Oz, that would have been one thing. But she also had that epic, decade-long crush on Xander. Plus she admitted to having “naughty thoughts” about other men at various times, including Giles.

I really do think, no matter how “gay” Willow is, or says she is, she and Xander will always be a possibility. Depending of course on what happens with Anya. Sigh. I just really, really wish they hadn’t killed off Tara.

I predict that, in a fit of well meaning, but wrong, intention that Willow decides that she can somehow make reparations by rebuilding the buffybot in order to help out. The buffybot discovers that the real Buffy is liked better by everyone, and has had a sordid fling with Spike. This causes the buffybot to go insane much like the bot in season 5, and tries to kill Buffy after challenging her to a duel to the death over Spike’s affections.

Ok, maybe not. I think it will really deal with Spike’s newly regained humanity, since I adamantly believe that he’s a human being once again; and it will deal with Willow’s overwhelming guilt which will probably lead to suicidal depression. Also, I figure that Anya will ultimately decide that she preferred being human and will try to regain that status(making her and Spike parallel characters, maybe some jealousy involved here) but will never reconcile with Xander.

Oh yes, I meant to directly address the OP. My one prediction for Season 7: We will see more of Jonathan.

I was re-watching season 2 the nightmares episode and Buffy mentioned her biggest nightmare is being buried alive - of course then she turned into a vamp and that was her biggest nightmare. But it lead me the think that there might be tie in’s from earlier seasons in Season 7 so I plan to sit down and watch a lot of Buffy to see if I can find anything.

this may just be a way to rationalize buying those Buffy DVD’s

My predictions - Buffy officially retires and leads a life of hugs and puppies

Thea… I tried to send you an e-mail and it failed after 3 days. I can’t figure out if it’s your email’s fault or mine, but the message was weird. Just thought I’d let you know.

stoid

From season 1: invisible girl assassin and praying mantis lady. Unfinished plots there, possibly.

Stoid- well, checked the addy, it’s correct, give it another try. BTW, since I dumped AOL, I haven’t been able to send e-mail using Internet shortcuts, but I should still be able to receive it. 'course, you could always try typing the address into your e-mail program’s address line by hand…
elfkin- Ohhh, no, not the Buffybot!!! Besides, Spike has already had a sordid fling with the Buffybot- that’s why he had Warren build it, remember? (don’t say that, no programs, just be Buffy…) Besides, I think the demon gang (Hell’s Angels on Wheels?) pretty well demolished it. Drawn and quartered with motorcycles. Doubt if it’s fixable this time.
