BUG: Pressing SUBMIT before preview page is completely loaded fails

Found a bug.

If you preview a post, and press submit before the preview page is 100 percent loaded, the submit fails. I get a message to the effect that an invalid forum was chosen, or something similar.

I’m using Mozilla 1.6 on Windows XP Home.

Is this where bugs should be reported? Or should they go directly to Jelsoft?

I am unable to test this problem, as I am on broadband and the page loads almost instantly. So I can’t say with certainty, but…

I’m not sure whether this would qualify as a bug in vBulletin, as it’s more a limitation of the way in which a browser renders the underlying code. If the browser does not load all of the code, or renders it in a sequence that makes the code function incorrectly when all critical parts have not fully loaded, it is possible that you have unexpected results as a consequence.

Even if this were a bug in vBulletin, there is really nothing that the staff at the SDMB or the CR could or would do about it.

This does not mean you should not report it. Sometimes such information is useful to our members even if there’s nothing much we can do about it.

Ofcourse, if you want a clarification on why it happens and what can be done to fix it, you would have to file a bug report at vBulletin’s website.

I have broadband too, but pages still load slow as dirt.

I’m pretty sure I was able to do this before, so I guessed that this was an issue introduced with the latest upgrade. I wonder if I was just lucky before, and all the critical parts just happened to be loaded.

I’ve had the same problem, though I never realized that it was happening because the page hadn’t finished loading. It happened sometimes, and didn’t happen others, so I was still waiting to figure out what caused it. At that point, I’d probably have posted here myself.

Sure, I could have e-mailed JelSoft, but it seems it would have more force coming from the Reader, since they’re actually one of JelSoft’s paying customers.
