Bumps in the night - a noisy house MMP

Howdy from irk! I’ve been out on home visits and after I wolf down N.O.L. which I am in the process of as I post, I shall be out and about for more home visits. Rah.

Like the stuff MOOOOOOM. I think they’s purty!

Fiat maybe some people have hunnerts of dollahs to just throw away. I never did in college, so I nerded up and went to class like a good little stoodint.

Surprise, appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

Yay for money day shortdrum!

Yay for stuff to do and purty, shiny bday prezent Rebo!

Back to irk, alas.

Laterz!

ETA: First on three!

I forgot to say Happy Birthday, Rebo!!!
ETA: I also forgot to mention that Four Cheese Rice-a-roni is not very good. Blech.

Woody - I wonder about that myself. Two of my 3 Bio lab partners from last spring missed at least 4 labs each. One of them asked me later if I could help him with a lab report and I told him that even if I did, there’s no way our professor would accept it because she knew he hadn’t been there. They both ended up failing biology. They were both having trouble with the lecture portion (most of the class did) but the lab might have gotten them a passing grade if they had made an effort. With me in their group, they had had no reason for failing the lab portion and they knew it but still chose to not come in. My other partner barely passed - because I helped her get full credit in lab. There wasn’t much I could do to help with the lecture portion (worst professor I’ve ever had - over 30 classmates at the start down to 12 at the end and only 3 or 4 of us passed - if you weren’t a future Biology major, there was no way you were gonna pass).

Happy Hump day!

Happy Rebo day!

We are going out for dinner tonight as we officially have no groceries. Well we could make grilled cheese sammiches I think but we have no veggie matter in the house.

Tomorrow will be Tortilla soup as it is going to be below 50 deg here tomorrow! I will however have to shop for the ingredients

OK, this is not funny. I just spent the last 2.5 hours cleaning my back deck - removing the planters and miscellany, raking the leaves off, pressure washing the deck, steps, and railings, plus the siding that I could reach. Actually, that’s pretty good - I’m very pleased with the deck.

I came back in, got me a drink, and opened my favorite weather site. It’s 70° right now. Saturday? Predicted mix of rain and snow. SNOW!!! in October!!!

We are not amused…

OK – I’m late. I agree with the water noise thing. We get some water through the walls and have had two water heaters fail. That “trickle from the basement” is the one noise I just do NOT want to hear. Our ghosts are fine; I’ve gotten used to them and their little noises. I actually find some comfort in them. But water hurts.

PS – going to be in and out for a while. I’m helping clean a hoarders house after her death. 12 rooms you can’t enter. One hand holds dread because this is stacks and stacks of stacks and stacks. The other hand spotted an early Edison and some other stuff that could really help the estate pay the final bills. If said things can be gotten to.

I can remember a Halloween when I had to shovel several times for the trick-o-treaters and became famous for passing out cups of coffee to the parents. I can handle this.

We also heard snow for this weekend at some point. I don’t know how bad it’s supposed to be because I’m getting it all second hand. I’ve noticed that even hardened New Englanders act like babies when the first potential snowfall of the year is before Halloween.

Personally, I don’t worry too much about it. Just need to get the leaves off the driveway before it comes.

Just called the chimney sweep and oil company. They’ll both be here on Monday. Tried to reach the wood guy but got his voicemail. Car goes to Dr. Firestone on Sunday. Geez, I’m gonna be broke again by next Wednesday. :frowning:

Still need to go to school to get my check. Then I have to meet my best friend for a yoga class at 6:30. I haven’t done yoga in years (and about 60 pounds). This should be interesting. For now, I’m just bored with the waiting.

Well, no snow in south Jawja this weekend, but the high temp for Sattidy is predicted to be only <snerk> 69 <snerk> degrees. I said already though didn’t I? Hey, it’s worth sayin’ twice since it is <snerk>worthy.

Back at the orifice. Now I get to do paperirk. Rah.

Snow in October for Merrylind may be odd, but we’ve had a few October flurries on the Guylindt, Once even on Hallowe’en - put damper on trick-or-treating

Happy birfday Rebo! Enjoy all the cake you can eat.

kopek, I’m fascinated with hoarders. Can you share some details of what it’s like in the house?

I have normal house noises, but what always gets my attention is the sound of my gecko climbing, because it’s not a regular sound. He is a desert gecko but, I fear, thinks he is a green gecko and thus can climb like one. He really isn’t a very good climber, and I have caught him climbing with his eyes shut before. It is very difficult for him to fall far, thankfully, but I hear first little tiny claws dragging across stone or the cork wall…then silence, then sometimes, THUMP. Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to figure out what’s going on. And he usually starts climbing again, right after. :smack:

Speaking of him, I actually took him to the vet for the first time ever since I got him in 2005 a few weeks ago, because last time he shed he didn’t shed right and I feared he’d damaged his eye. Turns out he just had a little bit of the shedding stuff stuck in his eye - he couldn’t even see out of it! But he didn’t seem to care at all. Anyway, she took him in the back (as I watched nervously) to give him drops and remove the eye thing, and as she left, she offered to use a stone on his toenails, too, to clean them up and blunt them a little.

She comes back in a few minutes, and says, “He’s all set with the eye - he calmed right down when I put the drops in. I think it was really bothering him.
He said ‘no’ to the toes, though.”
At that moment I knew I had a good reptile vet. He said no? And you listened? Awwwwwwwwww!

Happy Birthday, Rebo!

ems, we had chicken tortilla soup yesterday. Great minds think alike…and so do ours!

Happy Birthday, Rebo!
Why is it, for every junk email from which I unsubscribe, I get 5 more from other sources?

Happy Birthday, Rebo!

No snow here in Minnesota!

However, they’re all talking about the Halloween Blizzard of '91 when there was 2 1/2 feet of snow so we’re not immune to early winter.

Glad the gecko’s eye is better, **mika **and that you have a good vet.

Hope Bubba feels better, sticky. What* is* your current nickname??

I knew one person in college who had problems with depression and failed one class because he just could not get up to go to class. So that is one reason. But beyond that, I don’t get it either.

Yesterday was really slow at work. Now I’m swamped again. ::zoom::

I skipped a bunch of classes for no reason in college. In retrospect, I was deeply depressed, only I hadn’t the faintest idea that this was the case. Sometimes I still have nightmares about skipping class, and easy classes at that.

I have a bet with Big Boss that we’ll get measurable snow in the valleys between November 15 and 25. The bears have been fattening up early 'round these parts. That would be what we call a good indicator for hard winters.

We had The Corporate Inspection today. I just ranted about that in the work rants thread. I think we passed, but TPTB were having their roundtable when I left this afternoon.

Culinary Boy has been allowed to live another day.

I am tired.

I have vague childhood memories of Halloween snow, so I know it happens in Merrylande. But it’s in the 70s today. dammit! :stuck_out_tongue: It’s also clouding over, and from the looks of weather radar, we’ll be getting rain within a couple of hours. Rah.

I met **FCD **at our mechanic’s shop - his car is due for an oil change, so he dropped it off. He gets to drive the truck tomorrow - it’s nice to have a spare vehicle. Otherwise, I’d have to get up early, take him to work, go to class, pick him up after work… no thanks…

He doesn’t want supper tonight either, so I’m spared cooking duty. Looks like it’ll be a grilled cheese sammich night.

Home from irk! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Leftovers from last night for dindin. Yay cause I liked last night’s dindin.

Ok, off to ummm… do stuff, I guess.

Happy birthday Rebo!

Oh, I’ll answer to just about anything these days. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, as an undergrad I did horribly because I was severely depressed. It wasn’t until I transferred to another school that my grades turned around.
And the GREAT news is… Bubba ate some food!!! :):):)

I was literally just looking up the vet’s hours so that I could take him back in and he walked over to the plate and started eating! I was so happy, I cried. Now we just have to make sure that it stays down, but i don’t think it will be a problem this time. :):)
