A Scottish MMP

Go me!I get to start the MMP cuz I am awake overseas. We are in Edinburgh having a wonderful time. Discuss UK vs USA electrical stuff. There are no outlets in bathrooms here, outlets have to be turned on, and the plugs have 3 prongs. I guess the gummint feels you will be electrocuted if you dry your hair in the bathroom.

W00t! First!
wetone, that. and most of the buildings in Europe were built before electricity. Or indoor plumbing.

Second, but there goes my MMP. :frowning:

Garmin devices (watches in particular) come with multiple ‘tips’ so you can recharge them in different countries.

Bring me back a souvenir bottle of Lagavulin, please.

Just curious, was this an offer to be my personal Yelp service, or an offer for a home-cooked meal?

Ah, Edinburgh! it was drizzly the day my Mom and I were there, but we had a wonderful fish-n-chips lunch at Deacon Brody’s. Even got a table by the window. Have a wonderful time!!! And good on you for using coasters!

I’ve made it to the office - we’ll see how productive I can be. No Baby Engineer today or tomorrow - he’s in Tampa doing engineer stuff with one of our customers. But I’ve got a big pile pf stuff to do, so there’s that.

Happy Moanday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudyish out with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan for the da is to defilthyfy da cave. I have a hunk o’ beast thawed that I shall hack into chunks and throw in the slow cooker in a while. Beast tips and rice shall be supped upon along with whatever vegetative matter I decide upon. Maybe some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. Red I spend most of my time in the cee-mint pond on one of these so I don’t get pruny. I lurves my float!

WetOne glad you’re havin’ a good time in Scotland! Have you eaten this yet?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Nope, the no outlets (except shaver ones, which have extra safety measures) in bathrooms thing is solely a non-electrocuting thing. We do have lights in bathrooms now, y’know. I don’t mean candles, either :stuck_out_tongue:

Plug sockets (as we call 'em) can’t legally be installed less than 3 metres from a bath or shower, which in most UK bathrooms means they can’t be in the room. Apparently it was brought in when electric stuff was way less safe than today, and people had stuff like electric heaters and radios, balanced them on the edge of the bath and… Oops. It probably is unnecessary now, but no-one wants to be the one to say ‘Hey, let’s get rid of this safety regulation!’ especially as there’s no push from within the country to do so.
Looks like I’m getting a trial mini-shift at this pub. They’ve got a few other applicants, but from what they said I’m the only one that a) wants just a couple of days a week, no bother if I don’t get any one week, and b) has a car. They only want someone a few days a week, and it’s a couple of miles from the nearest town. Thankfully they don’t want me to start this week, as it’s one of the busiest of the year, being one of the closest pubs to the County Show, which would maybe a bit much as a first shift. Plus it’d be a nightmare to get in for just a baby shift then, the signs warning of appalling traffic jams have already been up for a couple of weeks.

The voltage is twice as high as the voltage in the USA. That’s why you can use decent kettles that boil quickly.

Blurf Here. Operating on less than 4 hours of sleep. I tossed and turned until at least 330. It’s gonna be a loonnnnggggg day.

Back to the grind after taking a 3-day weekend. The husband and I had a wonderful birthday weekend in Chicago (his birthday was a couple weeks ago and mine is coming up). Saw a show, ate a lot of food, went to a jazz club, hit a flea market. It was a fun weekend away from Juliet Jr. and Romeo Jr.

The Great 2018 Summer Postcard Exchange is upon us! Come one, come all!

Domesticity is hard! However da cave is spiffed so there’s that. Got the hunk o’ beast on to cook as well. Very nice out so I foresee quality cee-mint pond time in the near future. YAY!

Juliet glad y’all had a good time. A group of us (six to be exact) went on a cruise to celebrate our fiftieth birthdays a <ahem> few <ahem> years back. We called it our mid-life crisis and acted like fools for five days. Got it all out of our system and returned to civilization as near to normal as any of us ever gets.

BLURFAGE So busy with EOM/FOM stuff. I am tahred though and want to go home and back to bed. I think I shall sleep well tonight.

Happy Moonday!

Its a bright, beautiful, N.O.S. day, with a high of 73 degrees predicted.

It’s been a sleepy morning, I had a horrible time waking up.
Now I’m finally awake and getting busy around here. Yesterday I cleaned out/rearranged kitchen cabinets.
How did I ever accumulate so much stuff?

I’ve never been to Scotland, but I’m 1/4 Scottish, and a whole branch of my family lives in Scotland. It’s one of the countries I’d most love to visit.

I like Scottish music, Scottish comics, and shortbread.

Just curious, were you three couples?
Where there lots of aminals on board, too?
Was the captain named Noah, perchance? :o

I have some Scotch in me, too; though not quite a ¼ in my case. I have about a fifth in me.

Quality cee-mint pond time was good. Have I ever mentioned how much I like bein’ retired? Beast tips ‘n gravy are lookin’ good and smell nummerific. Baby lima beans and carrots shall be the vegetative matter.

Spidey we were three couples, all gayer than a debutante on an April holiday in Paris.

Swampy is gay? nooooo

If you are in Edinburgh, you’ll likely see Bill Hill taking tourists up and down the Royal Mile. If you run into him in a pub, he will not refuse you if you offer to buy him a drink!

Swampy, I think we may have different definitions of foolish… For us, acting foolish was being able to sleep in until 8 and throwing back an extra gimlet while listening to live jazz.

Or in Romeo’s case, trying durian. It did not end well.
Wet one, how foolish are you getting across the pond?

Wait! What???!!! I’m gay!!!
Just. Never. Gets. Old.

We have supped and it was good if’n I do say so myself. Plus, leftovers for tomorrow night. Win-Win! I am retired and slack. Deal.
