Burning Man Flipside - Austin

…And I wonder why I have recurring dreams of spooky Midway’s? Not that I have a problem with it, but I am getting increasingly fascinated with the weird and wonderful, and I got plenty of it Memorial Day weekend. I have never been to the big Burning Man in Nevada, but I did get a smaller scale taste of it. And here, there was a spring fed creek to jump in…NEKKID!! Maybe no big deal to you, but I haven’t done this since I was a kid. At night the place lit up with weird archetecture and even weirder people. Good thing I brought my costumes, they got put to good use. Freaks of all tastes were there. Sex shows. Rave discos. Pan-sexuals. Pyrotechnics. Chupacabras. Artists. Whatever! I came home with a sunburn and a lot of memories.

Was anyone else here there?

Wow. That sounds like much fun. Wish I would have know about it.

:pouting smily:

So how’s Rec. Plant. doing these days? Another group I’m a member of used to do events there, and while there are aspects of the place (in particular, the limited availability of water) I don’t miss, I still have a certain fondness for it.

Rob, I heard about it in February. The tickets sold out quickly. Although many bought extra tickets that got sold at the gate during the weekend.

The showers lasted until the Sunday evening. On Friday, the creek was c-c-c-cold. By the next day it had lost its edge. They did a reasonably good job replacing port-a-potties when needed.
