Is it possible that Mr. Bush is so out of touch with reality that he expected everyone to fall into line behind him?
More importantly, it seems almost un-American to resent opposition.

Later in the story he’s described as ‘infuriated’. Infuriated? The PRESIDENT? I mean, shouldn’t an adult be able to keep it under control? Have a little perspective?

You could read anything you wanted to into that story.
Bush is a good guy, Bush is a bad guy.
But it doesn’t really contain any information, it’s a “human interest” piece.
I think he did, in fact, expect everyone to “fall in line”. It has never failed before, once you start banging the drums and bleating about “supporting our troops”, the public falls into step. Its an emotional thing, almost impossible to resist, like standing for the National Anthem at the ball game. It always works.
And it worked again. His approval ratings shot up, as expected. They know this, they count on this. But sooner or later, the bill will come due. And its gonna be a doozy.
Get the President a Snickers bar. STAT! That’ll fix him.
Thank god we have another Bush pit thread. Hopefully this will also turn into a lament about how anti-war protestors are labeled as unamerican.
I’m opposed to the war and don’t care for Bush, but name me a single fucking president from the modern era who wasn’t pissed at the media at some point.
It just seems this rant could be tacked on to one of the other 1,000 posts on generally the same topic.
