Bush-Kerry Debate: Watch Along Thread

That was a clear Kerry victory on substance, now I’m going to listen to Fox try to spin it as a brilliant win for Bush.

Then change “DNC” to “some 527 group”. As long as it gets on television.

“and may God continue to bless our great land”. GWB

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh where was God Sept 11 2001 ???
Could have used a little help.

Total disaster for Bush!

Kerry did it![

Hey, are Laura and Teresa pretty much wearing the same outfit?

Agree on debating points. I still haven’t heard any substance form Kerry on what he would do differently in Iraq, Korea or anywhere else.

I’m a Bush supporter, but I’m giving this one to Kerry. But not by that much. He hasn’t ‘wiped the floor’ with Bush.

Kerry’s biggest liability is that he has been successfully painted as a flip-flopper. He needed to erase that perception. I don’t think he succeeded, but he helped his case. That makes it a Kerry win.

This was a tough debate for Bush to win, because Kerry has the advantage of being able to claim that he would do everything better, stronger, faster. He can claim he would double the Special Forces without having to explain how he’d pay for it. He can claim that he’d put more first responders on the line, without having to say how he’d pay for it.

Plus, because the debate was basically about the effectiveness of Bush’s policies, Bush was forced onto the defensive.

Prediction: The polls will move in Kerry’s direction tomorrow. By how much, I have no idea. It depends on just what resonates with the people.

Are the two women wearing the same dress?? That is kind of funny, considering on ET just before the debate they were talking about First Lady Fashions, and how what the women were wearing was a big secret…

Bush spokesman on fox used the term flip-flop, do i still have to drink?

Please tell me The Prez didn’t compare himself to Moses in his closing statement.

If you guys are drinking whenever Bush says “liberty” or “brave” you’d have been on the floor when he talked about the new Iraqi leader … “He’s a brave courageous brave man who’s braveness is the bravest of the brave … oh, and he’s brave.”*

*Paraphrasing of course but it did have a lot of braves in it.

I sometimes think Bush gets most of his speeches from patriotic songs.

Maybe he was playing the same drinking game we are-sure that was water?

Yay, they showed Theresa Heinz!!! (I love Heinz-Kerry!)

Debate ends.

Kerry goes to shake Bush’s hand.

Bush turns his back to Kerry.

Laura Bush accepts Kerry.

That says it all right there.

I give it to Kerry, fairly easily.

One thing I noted that I haven’t seen in Bush before, he was quite noticeably angry at least twice during the debate. I wonder if this is because he is simply unused to being criticized to his face, and if so, what does this say about his management style? That could explain a lot, I think.

Watching ABC’s coverage - just listened to Peter Jennings spew this, “I’d like to get back to the two candidates’ differing styles, but first, our national security correspondent is standing by for a quick analysis.”

And then people wonder why Americans are uninformed…

What was with the “I won’t hold going to Yale against him” comment? Bush went to Yale too.

I agree that whomever coached Bush for this will looking for new employment tomorrow.

No offence to those concerned, but it’s good to hear, so far, two bush supporters say that this debate is going Kerry’s way.

(p.s. I was kind of hoping my GD thread would be used for the live debate of the debate, but I suppose it’s big enough to warrant an exclusive thread)

I don’t agree with Busch on stem cells or other conservative crap like DOMA. I also don’t like his inability to speak well to the public.

But I like is proactive and agressiveness on issues of national security and foreign policy. We have to stick this one out. And the world IS safer without Hussein. When this is all over, the people of Iraq will live in a free country. People who were born in raised and comforted under a blanket of freedom and democracy their entire lives have no idea what Freedom is worth. I’m sorry, but the liberation of Iraq is a good thing. It’s a shit hole right now, but it will be better in the near future. And in the long run, it will be so much better off because of the decisions of the president. The world may be better off.

Kerry has the advantage of being able to claim that he would do everything better,

Well I think you’d have to agree that kerry can speak better.

Bush is going to have to put a lot more work in for the next debate. He seemed remarkably unprepared to defend his position on Iraq. He tried to stick to his speaking points and Kerry kinda pounded him on it.

As far as the polls go, I think it depends on what clips get shown on the morning new shows. I gotta think that Bush’s shakiness will not fair well though.
