Oh, I’m all too familiar with him.
He’s a self-proclaimed liberal like Bill O’Reilly is a self-proclaimed independant.
There aren’t enough Roll-eyed smilies in the world for your post.

Cite? My second-cousin works with the guy on the same channel. This doesn’t really seem to compute with what I’ve heard, but then all I have is second-hand rumor. Maybe you have some facts to prove that he is “anti-Bush?”
From CM’s bio:
Maybe it’s more accurate to use Dem/Pub rather than Liberal/Conservative. CM is absolutely a Democrat. And, as I said earlier, absolutely anti-Bush. You can say he’s not a liberal, but you cannot say he is a Republican or that he’s pro-Bush.
The  are pointing suspiciously in your direction, pal.
Being “anti-Bush” doesn’t mean he’s liberal. Just means he sane.
Where is the “anti-Bush” part again? Let’s not play the association game: let’s go to the videotape. The daily howler has provided not one, but many many instances in which Matthews not only soft pedalled Bush big time, but dissembled wildly just to slam people like Gore. If someone works for a network who has been given a pundit mandate to try to appeal to conservatives to compete with Fox, I’m guessing that past history is hardly the only factor.
Apos:
The interview was by Brit Hume, not Mathews.
Did I hear you say “Never Mind!”?
Oh, and: before we get too huffy about Fox, what news organziation has ever done anything but softpedal a President in person, especially in a time of war (I mean, time of violent peace)? These junket interviews are not like press interviews (which Bush avoids like no President in the last 70 years), they are scheduled and arranged by the networks and the administration. You don’t bite the hand that feeds yo ua huge huge exclusive, and Fox is no more guilty of this than any other network. No, it isn’t quite kosher journalism, but it is damn important in the ratings war.
John Mace: I was responding to a general comment about Mathews, not about the particular interview in question.
Did I hear you say “doh!”?
Yeah, but being Liberal would certainly mean he was insane.
Matthews stated on his show that he voted for Clinton twice but he also ripped him for the Lewinski thing. I think CM really is what Bill O’Reilly pretends to be-- an equal opportunity savager of politicos. I’ve heard him say good and bad things about Bush but he seemed to lean against the war and has been critical about the lack of WMDs.
I would guess that Matthews is probably a moderate Democrat. He’s not a raving liberal but he’s no right-winger either.
O’Reilly really needs to drop the “Independent” thing. While I think he does a reasonable job supressing his Republican leanings, anyone who who has Cal Thomas (or John Kasich, for that matter) sub for him while he’s on vacation, can’t be too much of an independent.
Matthews has really grown on me of late. I used to hate the guy, and couldn’t watch him for more than 5 minutes without wanting to punch the TV out. He’s toned down the ravings a bit and doensn’t appear to be spitting so much when he speaks.
Now if Jim Cramer can just settle down a bit…
I thought Matthews worked in the Carter Administration…not high up of course.
Oh, I get it. Very clever. How’s that working out for you, being clever?
I’m so totally confused.

Back to the OP…
Brit was pretty easy on Bush. He asked some tough questions, but never hit him with tougher follow-up questions when the answers were sub par. Bush, for his part, seemed more nervous than usual. He didn’t seem comfortable until the very end when the topic turned to the everyday politics of Dem/Pub sparings.
But, as someone mentioned earlier, this was pretty much what past presidential interviews have been like. And it’s not like that many people watched it anyway.
Oh, for fuck’s sake.
Do these idiots know that even Bush isn’t saying there’s any evidence that Saddam was involved in 9/11?
I guess I’m so sick of hearing him talk about the same shit that it rubs me like a cheesegrater to the face. In fact I don’t even know if it’s 100% him, perhaps it’s simply the phrase “the American people”.
Ha! That’s nothing.
You should have been around for the part where they endorsed every war the US has been in, and if that wasn’t retarded enough, one of them said “I’ll endorse the next war right now, because if the Pres needs to whip some ass, that’s good enough for me”.
The mind boggles.
