Now there is a smoke screen about Trump not lifting the Jones Act, which is irrelevant in this situation. His “excuse” is that “A lot of people who are in the shipping industry don’t want it”. What the fuck. The Jones Act had/has to do with foreign ships carrying cargo between US ports. it has nothing to do with emergency disaster aid at all.
No food.

No power.
Hospitals running out of diesel for their generators.

The Jones Act prevents foreign ships from delivering anything, including emergency disaster aid, from the rest of the US to Puerto Rico. Obviously, this reduces the speed of aid delivery to some extent – perhaps a significant extent, perhaps not, but in any case it’s been routinely suspended for emergencies involving [del]white folks[/del] other regions.
