Butt-Hurt Trump Takes to Twitter Again (Part 1)

True. I’m sure that little tactic has been used in this White House many, many times.

You’re right…that is worse than I was thinking.

It’s been an exhausting 2 years, and it’s going to be an exhausting 2 more…

Do you really think both Trump and Pence are going to make it in office past 2019?

Even if the Democrat’s get control of both chambers, what do you think Trump will do that will convince 16+ GOP Senator’s to vote for removal?

It seems to me that it really is a boiling frog thing - he just keeps moving the line of unacceptable behavior. I guess its possible that Democratic led investigations will uncover absolute proof of something, but even then the cry will 'coup by witch hunt!", and the GOP will back their leader.

Yeah. The goalposts have moved so much, what used to be “moderate”, “mild right wing”, or “slightly leaning right” are now “raving foaming at the mouth communist”

It might not take that much. If articles of impeachment are brought to the floor and the Mueller report has been released, enough Repubs may realize it’s their only hope of saving the party.

If the Democrats take the House, and Jah willing, the Senate, the Republicans who are currently running roughshod over regular order in order to pilfer everything they can get their hands on (tax cuts, deregulation, judges) will realize the jig is up. Once they know their agenda is fucked, they’ll have no more need for Trump as a spearhead. They may just decide they can no longer take the embarrassment.

Maybe I’ve spent too much of my life in Chicago–though I understand things work this way in New York, too–but doesn’t that normally result in heavy footwear and sleepy fish?

Since they seem to have chosen party over country it is a small step to Trump over party…

The Republican Party leadership has stated in the past their primary goal was to destroy the Democratic Party, not the Republican Party. When the time comes, they will turn on Trump. It will happen shortly after he’s been in two years. They are probably praying that the Democrats flip the House so as few Republicans have to vote for impeachment as possible. I don’t know if Ryan is being set up for VP, or if he’s planning on his own run.

And it’s going to work. They will get rid of Trump and blame all the worst and most extreme actions on him, but never roll them back.

Just in case you needed more proof that the commander-in-chief is an ignorant sack of flesh who doesn’t read;

The sticking point with these “Republicans will turn on Trump” predictions— much as I would love for them to come true— is the tens of millions of Republican voters who think he’s the cat’s pajamas, and thus far have shown a slight reluctance to consider alternate points of view. The spell will be not broken, Trump tower will not collapse and his legions of fanatical minions will not be annihilated like orcs, no matter how intensely we want it to happen.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump Tower did collapse, given Dolt45’s history of stiffing people on bills and scamming others. But unless he loses the power of The One Hairpiece I don’t think the ground will open up and swallow his supporters. Of course, they might all be drowned by rising sea levels because climate change is a Chinese conspiracy.

I think most Republicans prefer the party to Trump, and, if given an out, will also dessert him, as long as they don’t think it is a betrayal of the party.

There’s an idea. Throw pies at him!

It all boils down to if they think impeaching Trump will hurt their own re-election chances. Some of them decided to retire early, rather than face voter retaliation. Others will go back to the tactics they used when Obama was president. The remainder have already sold their souls to Trump because the “old guard” no longer matters.

Trump did more to destroy the GOP than the Democrats could ever hope to do. He replaced them with opportunist barbarians who now see the defensive gates propped wide open. “Oooh, pollution regulations relaxed! Oooh, federally protected lands now being leased out! Oooh, tax breaks for my income bracket! Oooh, Russian kickbacks! New $50,000 curtains! Solid mahogany desks! And future generations will pay for it, not us!”

If the Koch brothers and their buddies start seeing their business interests going downhill, and can reliably connect those losses with Trump (and given Trump’s weird ideas about tariffs, that could happen)----then the spell could be broken to the extent that Trump himself would be sent to live under the nearest bridge. Of course the orcs would remain in Congress, and a new orc would be installed in the Oval Office. But perhaps it would be a net gain for Homo sapiens.

(And at least we’d get rid of that unholy homunculus Stephen Miller. Though maybe we’ll get rid of him even sooner: after all, it was HIS speech on those teleprompters that caused the UN to laugh at Trump, today…)

Right, but at the same time there are also a passel of serious MAGAheads out there for whom shitheadery goes beyond politics and has become identity. And it’s not like Trump deceived them - they deceived themselves into believing he was the Great White Savior, slapped their own thoughts on his words and by now they’ve sunk cost themselves into “following” him come hell or high water. The truth is, he’s not leading fuck all and it’s still self-delusion or “owning the libs” - but at this point any ground given to reality or reason would be an admission of failure and tear at not just what they believe but who they are, who they see themselves to be. It’s quite insane, but there you go.
The end result is that these people will never, ever back down, because if they did they’d completely unravel. Trump could anally rape a puppy to death on live television and they’d applaud. Kavanaugh could then felch the corpse, and they’ll still applaud because he’s Trump’s guy.
These folks might be few but the thing is, they’re not far between - they seem quite concentrated demographically-speaking ; and because of the happy gerrymandering efforts of the GOP they’ll have a heavy influence on both state and federal legislative elections. Which means A) a bunch of absolute retards are going to get seats and B) the party will keep thinking they can control these insane people (“eh, just throw in a lynching allowed law and they’ll give us the corporate tax cuts”), and will keep supporting them because “it’s better than a Democrat !”.

They are too small in number to really drive the party, and decent people best gear up to fight that excuse when the time comes.

Looks like Avenatti has finally gotten a direct response:
