Those helicopters are designed to whisk the president away to safety and land on precise coordinates. They plan for real emergencies and account for bad weather. All he had to do was take an umbrella and read a few lines. He could have sent Ivanka in his place like he’s done before.
He was probably upset that Marcon implicitly criticized his nationalist policies and decided to stay put so the French leader could crawl up to him and apologize. He really is the big orange floating baby.
Gosh, who could have predicted that helicopters might have radar and GPS and radios and other cool stuff that would enable them to fly 50 miles. I’m going to suggest this to the airlines - they’ll be so surprised to find out that planes can fly in the rain. Travel’s gonna’ be so much easier now.
