Done and done. One of my senators (Pat Roberts) is retiring, but I let him know that if he voted against conviction (should Trump be impeached by the House), I would not vote for whoever is the Republican nominee for his open seat.
Of course, I wouldn’t have voted for the Pub anyway, but it felt good to tell the Senator that he should at least consider the consequences of his vote.
Got mod-noted about raising a “Call to Action” in a different thread, which is apparently a rule here stemming from the days when message board wars happened (a thing which now sounds so quaint I hereby want to start one ), so any further discussion I may have about my activities can be found here, at this year-old thread about calling Reps and Senators.
That’s not how the judiciary works either. He will get to face his accuser during the trial.
The only reason the twerp pulled that stunt on a monitored call is because he would do (or already has done) something along those very lines. Hasn’t he already endangered the very lives of Intelligence assets?
Yeah, the twerp has no concept of loyalty to country. He literally has the mental view of an infant (“Everything revolves, around me”). This is why the last person to kiss his ass is the one who gets accolades from him.
I really hate having to defend the orange shit-stain, but his tweet was not threatening a civil war. What he re-tweeted, via Robert Jeffress, was:
“If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal”
Jeffress is saying that it would be a fracture similar to the fracture after the US Civil War. This is a bone-headed tweet, but it’s not a threat.
It could easily – and I’d say more plausibly – be interpreted as the fracture that caused the civil war, which does make it a threat. And it wouldn’t be the first time that the Orange Peril has threatened violence.
His supporters are never disappointed because they don’t live in reality, they live in Trump’s Twitterverse, in which he’s already announced that The Wall is coming along splendidly, just like everything else he’s done.
Well, what Hilary being locked up, and Obama Care having been repealed and replaced with something better, plus he totally won the trade wars, his supporters can probably cut him a little slack if the wall is slightly delayed.
Trump’s defense strategy against the impeachment inquiry seems to be shifting from “I didn’t do anything wrong” to “impeach me and you will unleash a civil war”. If he were honest, he would add, “for I intend to start it”.
