Trump is his own Alexander Butterfield. I can foresee a day when some prosecutor issues a subpoena for such tapes, if any (pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease).
Given the firing of Comey is, as the President himself said, because the Administration wants to end the Russia investigation, and given that the Senate is also investigating Russia, this makes the firing of Comey relevant to the investigation and any tapes between him and Trump where they (again, as admitted by the President) discussed this are now potential evidence in the same investigation.

Stuff like that is exactly why I’m all about grabbing the popcorn and enjoying the show. I don’t need to make direct commentary or argue with anyone–the patent absurdity of it all is entertainment enough for me. It does disappoint me that the nation has sunk to this, that the presidency has turned into a fucking entertainment venue for people like me because of Trump’s itchy Twitter fingers. But, hey, if the ship’s sinking, I’m gonna sit on the deck and enjoy my last margaritas, at least. And I comfort myself that Cruz would have been even worse. Plus, I’m an optimist, and I figure things will sort themselves out eventually. I think Trump may actually be the best thing to happen to the Democratic party.
After The Great Orange Idiot fired Comey, people were already comparing him to Nixon. When I heard the word “tapes” this morning, I swear I thought it was a joke. I had to go look at the Washington Post to verify. This proves that no one has any control over him whatsoever. He has the common sense of a gnat.

Kobach is perfect for this. In his time as KS sec’y of state, the number of cases he has successfully prosecuted is in the single digits. (I believe he has dropped more cases than he has won.) Going after those three million illegal votes should keep him busy for a while!
