Cars for the most part now come in one exterior/interior color combo*. That’s it. My current car had a blue exterior option that I liked; however, that had the black interior. I will in no way shape or form get a black interior as it’s too hot in the summer when you go to get into a previously-closed car.
Of course the white & black exteriors come in both every trim level & your choice of interior colors whereas real colors come in only one trim level & with one interior option. How I miss car buying like it was in the 70s-80s where you could essentially build it yourself, choosing which options you wanted instead of getting a package/trim level rammed down your throat.
In other news, garlic presses are a pain to clean as the scrub brush(es) don’t fit in the various nooks & crannies. On the positive side, all of the local** Mumpers are safe from vampire attacks tonight.
** Local being defined as everything down to a little north of I-40 in Pirate-Kansas.
So it was Extreme Coupon Shopper Day. And Extreme Coupon Shopper #4 was bitching about #1-3, while doing exactly what they had just done.
I’m mostly bought old beaters for cash till last year. Pro Tip: If you show interest in the car with a manual transmission, manual locks, manual windows, and no cruise control that has been in the lot for 6 months, the dealers will sell it to you below value(2014 Kia Rio, “Carmen”):D.
when the “extreme” couponing thing took off a number of stores around here wouldnt let you use 25-50 in non store coupons it pissed everyone who thought they could do the same as the tv shows right off some used the store club cards to keep track…they wouldnt ya use coupons with out es
after the fad and people found out it was more work than they wanted to do the stores let up a bit but they let the cashiers decide that on a case by case basis …
I had a Nissan Cube when I lived in Japan. It was nice, and could fit in our tiny car space. I had had a larger car before we moved to that house, and it took a zillion back and forths to get into the space.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 out and dark (TWPTB say clear) with a predicted high of 74 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. Rah. Sup shall be grilled poke chops and whatever side matter I decide upon. Also, I get to go talk about floorin’ over to the church house this mornin’. Just never endin’ fun!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, I must purtify and don appropriate goin’ about the public attire. Life can be such a bother!
My last car was a Cube. I loved it! Unfortunately my credit was crappy when I got it and I was going to be paying too much on it for way too long so we traded it in on our current truck. Did yours have the ‘party lights’ on the front floor that changed colors?
When we were shopping for our Hyundai 7 years ago, we were willing to order and wait for the colors we wanted - red exterior, gray interior. But the salesguy said red came with brown - period. ick! So we got blue with gray. Apparently, now they make red with gray, but I don’t care enough to trade, especially since ours is in perfectly good shape and it’s paid for.
We’re leaving in an hour or so to go get daugther’s car - she wants to run her trade thru a carwash first. Our appointment is at 10 and I’m hoping we’re out of there in an hour or so. That’s the big thing I hate about car-buying - all the freekin’ waiting! Here’s the car - let me sign the papers, give you a check, and you give me the keys. I don’t need to talk to everyone in the dealership. I’m not going to impulse-buy another car while waiting around! We shall see.
I’m back from my weekend vacation. It was nice to get away for a while and spend some quality time with my daughter, sister and myself.
Friday was driving mostly, but we stopped in Madison and had an adventure. We read books at the public library for a while, did some shopping, and got lunch. Saturday, my sister was still working, so I took Juliet Jr. to the Peoria children’s museum. She loved it. We got lunch and manicures and Starbucks. on Sunday, I left Illinois and stopped in Madison to hear the symphony. One of the pieces they played was Gershwin’s An American In Paris, which is one of my favorites. As a reformed percussionist, I love just about any song that includes unusual percussion instruments, and this one has a set of 4 car horns as one of the percussion instruments. After that, I got too much Crapplebee’s take out and binged Netflix in my hotel room. Yesterday, I slept in and headed back home.
All in all, it was a great weekend, except that part of my temporary crown broke off yesterday, so I have to go BACK to the dentist today to get that fixed. I HATE THE DENTIST.
Juliet, sounds like a great weekend, except for the tooth. Hope the Dentist is kind.
47F here going up to 61F with no rain in the forecast today and tomorrow. Hope the fields dry out enough to get the Park folks to open up the soccer fields so we can get out there.
Need to mail bills and such, outside of that no major activity is planned.
Yes, sir. A stolen car? What kind of car, Mr. Ravelli? “Studebaker”. Could you describe the car, please? “Black fenders”, “Silver doors”, “Green hood”, “Polka dot seat covers”, “Monkey fur dashboard”. Maybe it wasn’t stolen. Maybe it ran away…
OK – since we’re talking Cubes – a friend had one as the sort of official vehicle for his (cable) television show and I drove it several times. The space and all were great but to me it felt a little funky in crosswinds and when large trucks went past the opposite direction at speed; in many ways it reminded me of the original VW Bugs. Too much of a percentage of our miles come from highway to make it a real option for us.
Greatest bass line ever!
My email address is not my name. I had an email show up (in my junk folder), “Dear <Real name> …” IOW, it wasn’t a scam/phishihg email.
It’s from a plus sized women’s clothing company. It was advertising bathing suits.
I am neither plus-sized or a woman. Where, how, why did I get added to their mailing list???
Spidey have you ever ordered from a men’s big-and-tall company? I know, for example, that Woman Within and Roamans (plus-size women’s wear companies) are part of fullbeauty.com brands, which includes kingsizedirect.com. Perhaps there was some cross-pollination of their mailing lists.
It’s funny that you should ask about car buying since I just bought a different one last month. I had been planning on getting a different car since I was so sick of all the problems with the old one but not really at that time. It was a deal I couldn’t refuse, I got a 2013 Ford Fusion SE with only 22,667 miles on it. It wasn’t even out on the lot yet but was on the website.
I traded in a 2008 Dodge Charger RT. BTW, I do not recommend getting a 2008 Dodge Charger RT. They didn’t give me quite as much on the trade as I had hoped for but at least I don’t have to deal with it and all it’s problems now.
Obviously, the Fusion doesn’t have the speed and power of the Charger but I’ll manage.
When I was in my mid-20s, I wound up on a mailing list for stuff like stair-lifts, walking aids etc. It was a little unnerving when I did my back in a few years later and actually couldn’t walk for a month…
Frustrating day; spent half of it re-writing the assignment I spent half of yesterday writing, after it mysteriously didn’t save when it said it had. Bah.
Oh well, I’m… not even halfway through, and I’ve got… less than two weeks left before the deadline? Argh.
I have found that big-&-tall stores put an emphasis on the ‘and’. I am tall but not big & therefore have never found anything in those stores that fits…unless I want pants big enough for you to climb in them with me. I also rarely buy any clothing online, only getting some specialty items.
Speaking of which, Doggio, can I borrow some money to buy a vowel.
It’s a bright and N.O.S. day, a little bit chilly.
Was a busy morning, and then we went to the park.
Ripple is getting bolder and even initiated some play today.
He’s wiped out again, which is a good thing.
Well, the Rogue didn’t happen today. There was a glitch in the title - daughter bought it before she married, and even tho she provided a copy of her marriage license, someone somewhere dropped the ball. Till it’s straightened out, there won’t be any car-buying. Needless to say, she’s bummed…
