Howdy Y’all! Today I laundered and declared war on the folks who installed the floor in the Parish hall. No one showed up. No one called. After an hour of waitin’ around I made a call and the ahole tried to say he did not remember settin’ up an appointment. I told him I would call his boss and discuss this with her as she and I had talked and she knew the appointment was for ten this mornin’. Tune changed quickly to another excuse of bein’ behind. I asked him why didn’t he call me then to let me know. Again, I told him I would mention that to his boss, which I did. Boss is not happy. He will be there at ten tomorrow with her. Anywho, hopefully I get the issue resolved tomorrow. In other news sup got cooked and et. Oh, I also have had many email exchanges regardin’ the upcomin’ mowin’ season over to the church house. Fun day.
StickyBuns so glad you’re happy with your new irk gig! Maybe you can come by more often now. Also yay on the 5k thing!
MOOOOOOM bummer about ChatDaughter’s new wheelz. Hope it’s all fixed soon.
Juliet glad you had a good time. Sorry about the toof problems.
sari yay for Ripple initiatin’ play at the dawg park. His bein’ all worn out just shows that it’s good for him to get to go to the park.
Juliet, I broke my last temporary crown too. It only took about ten minutes once I was in teh dentist’s chair since the impressions and the rest of the hard stuff was already done. Good luck.
doggio, having spent ~35 years with a manuel transmission as my daily driver, I considered it to be my security device.
spidey, some of my favorite drag queen friends order through the ladies’ plus size catalogues. Is there something you’re not telling us?
We celebrated my manager’s birthday at irk today. She’s all of 30. Yesterday, she set up a latte bar for us in honor of the time change. The floors are swept, mopped and supper is et. Once KP is finished, I’m going to do some mending and watch NCIS.
Never drove a Cube, but since you’re disparaging the venerable VW Bug, I have to say that I owned one as my first car and of course adored it (didn’t everyone?), and don’t recall ever having problems in crosswinds. Its main problem was being a little underpowered on highways. Also, having so much weight in the rear over and behind the rear axle required you to be careful taking tight curves.
Yeah, the Scion XB was another one I regret not buying before they stopped making them. Almost none of them on the used market around here. One of my Pub Buddies had one, and I could fit in the back seat with no problems at all. Not sure about the driver’s seat, but I would have given it a try if there’d been any around here.
The Honda Element was similar.
I guess I just missed the 5 years or so they were building smaller vehicles I could actually fit in comfortably. Maybe by the time I’m ready to trade in the new truck, they’ll have some new ones like this available.
Rain? 'Round here, we’re dreaming of rain. We’re half-way through March, and still don’t have a decent thaw. I spent two hours on Sunday chipping out a drainage ditch in the ice on my mother’s driveway so that what has melted will actually drain rather than just -refreezing every night.
Rain. Hmph!
Yeah, that sucks. I had two vacations in a row screwed up by the same tooth. We were trying to get the insurance to approve a crown on a cracked tooth. A big chunk cracked off on the flight down to Florida while that was going on. Got a temporary filling to hold me, but the insurance was still being a pain. So, a few months later, I’m on a flight to New Brunswick, and the filling falls out. Got it filled again, and called my dentist back home to schedule the crown, insurance be damned!
ruble, I never had any trouble in an old school Beetle, but in the microbus…whoa!
horatio, the Xb is rather commodious for we of the larger set. Sis is a 6’2", larger than life woman and I’m an average height plus sized woman and we’re both very comfortable in it.
Bummed because after a perfect day with N.O.S. skies and 65F, the )(*&^%&^ Parks Department decided at 4pm to close the soccer fields for another day and I had to cancel the 5pm practice. Not happy, and if they do it tomorrow I’ll have some words for them.
So swampy, I am with you in spirit in giving the no-show guy the bidness and look forward to tomorrow’s reportage.
FCM, I see Murphy paid you a visit…hope it gets sorted out soon.
Horatio, you can have the rain, the last two weeks we’ve dried out just enough to be ready for another downpour–and sure enough, T-storms are expected on Thursday evening…
Sari, glad Ripple is doing well dog-park wise.
To all my other friends/fiends, have a good evening.
Too bad about the title Mooomm I hope it gets sorted soonest.
We are all set for hubby’s cardiac ablation on Thursday I guess. He is more than ready to get back to feeling good. I am more than ready for this to be over with. The nearest hotel is expensive this time of year but he says don’t worry about that. So, if all goes well I will get a room rather than try to sleep in a chair. I am irking a half day tomorrow if I can in order to have time to pack a bag etc.
Yeah, I didn’t know drag queens ordered from ladies’ plus side catalogues.
After the garlic last night (& leftovers today for lunch) I decided to change dinner plans this evening; instead of plain pizza, I got a white pizza. At this point I think I have this garlic aura around me.
Car colors… the other day, I passed a Maserati on the freeway. Its color? I can only describe it as “drywall mud.” Not beige, not gray, not off-white. Just Ick! I can’t imagine spending Maserati-level money and getting something that looks like primer.
Sluggish Souls… I’ve got a Soul and it’s got more than enough giddyup to get up to 80+ on the freeway. In case the CHP is reading, I won’t say exactly how fast it will go under my foot. Not bad for a little car that can fit into almost any questionably legal parking spot in San Francisco and that can hold 8 foot long lumber inside.
What’s this world coming to? Children are kissing lobsters on TV. Seriously. Kids on Master Chef Junior are picking lobsters from a tank and kissing them before killing and cooking them.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 77 and partly cloudy for the day. I’m not sure what that means as the details provided by TWPTB say increasin’ clouds this afternoon. Weather be weird. Rain is predicted for Firday again. Next week looks to be a dry week (weather wise, likker will still be available :D) so maybe a chance to do yahd stuff. I meet with floor guy and his boss this mornin’. Even got a text last night confirmin’ this. I expect to get the discolored floorin’ replaced soonest. I want it done before Easter. Also, I shall lay in provisions whilst out and about. I shall go to the not my usual Pubic Sto’ bein’ as I will be closer to that one as opposed to my usual one. Sup shall be soup 'n sammich over to the church house so that’s taken care of for the day.
{{{gotti}}} ::tacklehug:: but kinda gentle cause I know you have back/spine issues. As to kids kissin’ lobsters, ummm, well, lobsters need lovin’ too, I guess. Not a fan of lobster so someone else can take care of the lobster lovin’ for me.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public at large attire. This will be four days in a row. Life is gettin’ almost unbearable!
Forgot to mention yesterday that our building should be up by next Firday. The Amish crew will arrive either Tues or Weds, and assuming the weather cooperates, it’ll be under roof by Firday. Then we’ll arrange for the floor to be poured and for the electrician to install the circuit breaker box and the lights. Which means our labor - interior walls and pulling wires for the machines - will start shortly thereafter.
Until the vehicle issue is resolved, I’ll be dropping Roxy off with the sitter. Takes me back to when I was dropping my own daughter off at daycare on the way to work… 30+ years ago…
Mel helped me sleep last night - I feel almost human. So Happy Wednesday to all!
The dentist popped off the broken temporary crown and placed a metal temporary crown in. This one shouldn’t break… but I can’t have the MRI I had scheduled for next week Tuesday until it comes off… on Wednesday. I don’t need my tooth becoming a magnetized projectile in my head. I rescheduled for Friday, but it’s at the facility across town. Oh well. By next week, I’ll have my permanent crown and another MRI… any maybe some answers as to what the heck is going on with me.
{{Juliet}}. Hope both crown and MRI work out for the best.
FCM, does dropping Roxie off mean Daughter and SIL both are working members of the community now?
gotti, good to see you about the environs. I don’t eat seafood, so kissing lobsters, especially just before dropping them into a pot of boiling water seems…odd.
59F here with N.O.S. reported and highs in the 60’s. Need to do a little mid-month provisioning and soccer coaching (the Parks Department permitting) is on the agenda. Raisin bread toast is on the schedule for this morning, so I’ll see y’all later.
It’s was a chilly 25 degrees when I took Rip to daycare, but it’s supposed to get up to 55 today.
The Adam lookalike was out there this morning, I haven’t seen him/her for a long time.
After I get back from the doctor, I’m going to drag Sah-son out to the car wash to clean out the truck and give it a good washing. It desperately needs a good vacuuming.
**MetalMouse **- no, SIL is not working. He’s not allowed to drive until they figure out and fix his vertigo issue. So he continues to be a burden on society and on us…
Actually so did I. My brain always wants to attribute that little ditty to Ogden Nash. :smack:
The hunter crouches in his blind
'Neath camouflage of every kind
And conjures up a quacking noise
To lend allure to his decoys
This grown-up man, with pluck and luck
is hoping to outwit a duck
The one I drove a fair bit (girlfriends with the full hippy fake fur over the fenders and face on the hood ---- of the car and not the girlfriend) would shoot to the right every time a semi went the opposite direction like a puppy running from a stick. You got used to it and adapted, especially since a lot of what we drove were back-mountain roads where people went 70 on two narrow lanes, but its carved in my brain. But on the bright side our mileage probably differed as well.
Never did a micro but I did do a vanagen a lot. I shared one with a buddy as our official hunting and fishing car and it was fine for everything except the heater. Usually it would actually get warm inside just about the time we pulled into our favorite “killing fields” an hour after we left the house.
