We did “American in Paris” in my youth orchestra. I played bass clarinet in it. And I was the one who found the car horns (online) for the percussionists.
Mrs. L.A. is selling her red 2000 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab. She’s listed it in the local paper. It’s in great condition. New paint, new tires, new windshield, sprayed-in (‘Rhino’) bed liner, sprayed-on undercoating, custom hibiscus seat covers I bought her for a present one year that cost $300, nice interior, window fairings, 4-cyl. engine and 5-speed manual transmission (which is kind of scarce – most Tacomas I see are 6-cyl. automatics), 129,000 miles. She looked it up on KBB, and it can be worth over $7,000. She listed hers for $6,000.
I’ll be sorry to see it go. I freakin’ love that truck!
Nuts - you’re right, having decided what kind of car I want next, they are all white or silver. Not a colour I wanted really, but I can’t see anything other than that on the few sites I’ve looked at.
midget, it’s funny but my favourite rental car on your side of the Great Watery Divide is a Chevy Malibu. I’ve had one of those for at least three of my rentals. Possibly the only thing better than that was the bright red 5 litre Mustang! OK, that was the noisiest car I’ve ever had that wasn’t one of mine falling to bits…
It’s a bit blowy out there today, apparently we have Storm Gareth visiting us today and probably tomorrow as well. Just in time for my scenic drive to North Wales tomorrow morning. I hope he blows through overnight and takes all his nasty squally showers with him.
Buy it from her? I’m actually quite serious about that. The OW had a pistol she fell out of love with and was going to sell it; I still loved it and actually bought it and had it transferred to me although we could debate the necessity of said action. And to this day I regret that I didn’t buy her Yamaha when she decided to part with it/didn’t need or want it anymore. Most couples have a small amount of “mine” in addition to “ours” and it isn’t a bad thing to use oit now and then.
I don’t have the money. I’m almost certainly going to sell my Jeep (as well as several cameras) to pay down some bills. And we seldom use the Tacoma. It was very useful last year when I emptied the travel trailer that was built onto the house that we had demolished. Many trips to the dump. I dug up tree roots from under where the trailer was (we had a couple of trees cut down), and I was going to haul them to the dump. I cut them up and gave them to a neighbour for firewood instead. We just don’t need it, and Mrs. L.A. is barely working as she starts her new business. If we had the space and I had the money, I’d consider buying it from her. But I think it will just have to be a clean break.
Today is a first, my doctor fired me.
I am doing so well that I no longer need a endocrinologist, a GP/PCP can take care of everything.
So now I have to find one.
I have three months until my script runs out, but I suppose I should start looking now.
I stopped at Sonic on the way home, we are letting our lunch settle and then we’ll head out to wash the truck.
It was probably the directors idea.
I’ve had a Scion Xb for 6+ years. Bought it new. One of the reasons we got it was because of the room inside. We’re both bigger than breadboxes. I’m 6’ 2" and 235 lbs.
I won’t tell you how big Wifey is, but she can, and does, wear my clothes on occasion. And I don’t have to readjust the car seat when I drive her car.
I just bought another bathrobe from the Bigandtall catalogue.
Haven’t gottten any offers of drag queen clothes yet, however.
Nissan Rogue huh? I’ve had 3 Nissans in my time. They were called Datsuns in those days. They’re perfectly good cars IMHO. If I could find a real good deal on one of their pickups I’d get it.
I forgot. I wanted to tell you about this scammer phone call I had on our answering machine this morning. It a woman’s voice saying “We have been instructed to refund your money. Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx” yada, yada."
What is funny about this is that we get so many of these calls that I literally recognized this woman’s voice.
I know where that is, I kinda-sorta used to live there.
I didn’t really live there, but that was where the Post Orifice was & therefore it was the town I ‘lived’ in.
Is you driving this car over 'ere?
I needs to find one myself. I have new insurance & both of the docs that I knew in the practice have left so I have no affiliation to there
Good luck to Mr. butters!
Welcome back gotti!
Good luck in your new department bird napper.
I’m beginning to get caught up in my busy week of the month. I need to stop at Bojangles drive thru for a treat for my coordinator and the new guy. The new guy left notes on his counts thatmade my job easier at the coordinator’s suggestion.
I figure that I gon’t give money to a church, so some good charities and directly expressing gratitude comes out of that part of the budget.
Howdy Y’all! Been a bzzy day here. Got the floor thing taken care of for starters. Well, officially taken care of tomorrow as that’s when the discolored part will be fixed. The guy who had not done a good job of customer service was profuse in his apologies. Then again, with his boss standin’ right there, what else could he do.
She also apologized and I accepted both of their apologies most graciously. The former [del]Church Janitor[/del] Junior Warden was also there as he had started the whole process before I took over and thus wanted to see it through. He’s a great guy and knowledgeable about buildin’ and grounds maintenance as that was most of his irk life, so glad to know I can count on him when I get all duh with a problem. Soup and sammich time at the church house was exceptional. Four really good soups along with aig sallit and pimento cheese sammiches. I led Evening Prayer and even roped OYKW into readin’ the lesson (scripture).
birdnapper good luck!
Butters prayers and appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for Mr. Butters. Hope all goes well.
I got this tshirt as a present from a friend today. OYKW is jealous so I shall have to guard it closely. Or order him one. Church is havin’ a yahd sale March 31. I should go and wear that shirt. ![]()
Has anyone else had issues with FB today? I couldn’t log on at all at lunch and when I got home, while I could see posts, I couldn’t respond. I did manage to [del] put in a complaint[/del] report the problem.
I just set my alarm for 330 AM. We have to be in Miami at 0800. I need to throw my bag together in the AM as a suitcase or travel bag freaks out King Louie. We made the decision to leave him home since staying in KW with my clerk would add 4 hours of drive time overall. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Plus with him being home I can check on him through the puppy cams. Why yes, I am obsessed with me little dog.
Thanks for the wishes and prayers. Lord knows we need all we can get. I just hope and pray this cures the problem for once and all. Hubby can never retire. He will drive me bonkers being underfoot. Plus he never wants to retire. I ain’t gonna lie; I am a little scared and nervous. If all goes well we should be back home by Firday afternoon.
I am taking me IPad but it won’t irk without WiFi. Hubby has one that is data enabled so I will keep in touch. Night all.
red yes. There was even a story about it on ABC WORLD NEWS. said Instagram and Facebook are affected and FB tweeted that they are working on the problem. The irony.
Same here. Then I cleared cookies and logged off and tried to get in again. I get this message:
Facebook Will Be Back Soon

Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes. In the meantime, read more about why you’re seeing this message. Thanks for your patience as we improve the site.

Couple of people out sick ,so I was up front alone all day. Beer never tasted so good.
Good luck!
Same here.
Rule #1 - Treat every gun as if it’s loaded
Rule #2 - Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot, even accidentally.
Unfortunately, I was planning on shooting the dog this weekend, but my gun* doesn’t seem to work anymore.
Have to see if I can get to the sto’ & buy a new one tomorrer…else I’ll just have to beat the snot out of her by hand all weekend.
- Mine’s yellow, not blue.
** I hasn’t seen her since Dec so I’ve got a lot of whapping to catch her up on.
Force-read her Flytraps entire posting history instead? Naaaaah - some things are just to cruel to even joke about. ![]()
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 82 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I get to watch floorin’ bein’ replaced today. Envy me! Hopefully that will be done within a couple of hours (I was told that) and I can go back to my somewhat abnormally normal life. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit just cause. Oh and tomorrow I get to spend time cookin’ corned beast for Sattidy’s big St. Patrick’s feast dinner. Over time we have figured out that corned beast is better cooked the day before. Also easier to slice cold and then warm up by pourin’ warmed up broth over it and lettin’ it set in a warm convection oven. Comes out so tender and sooooooo good!
I had a little issue with the book of faces last night but it cleared up in a couple of minutes.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, bother of bothers, I must once again purtify and don appropriate bein’ in public attire. Life is becomin’ increasingly burdensome!
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Lessee - I had a rough night of broken sleep. So did daughter - Roxy woke around 1 and didn’t go down again till 3, so a little after 5, I had to wake daughter to get Roxy ready to go. Naturally, I got stuck behind someone doing the speed limit or below along a road where passing is pretty much impossible. And when I finally got to the sitter, she had overslept, too.
So glad it’s my Firday.
If you remember me telling you about our family friend Jim who died a few months back - his memorial will be on April 6. Unfortunately, it’s up by my mom’s, where we’ll be going for Easter. I’ve gotten to the point where I flat-out don’t want to make that drive any more than necessary. So as much as I like Jim, I won’t be going to the service. Not gonna drive 200+ miles (over 4 hours) for maybe 3 hours of service/reception.
Other than that, just another day in paradise. Happy Pi Day!!
It may be Pi Day, but it’s not the Pi Moment until 3/14 1:59.2653 (rumor has it that there are more digits, but nobody cares). Either AM or PM, so there are two of them today. You probably already missed one.
