Bye.

The reason I think he’s leaving is that he prefers messageboards where people can post upwards of 100 times a day and it’s not abnormal.

The thought process that goes into making a thread like this is probably no more than creating another post – he’d like the board to be more like a chatroom than what it is and this is his “cya”.

That being said he’s leaving for higher volume messageboards rather than junking this one up so more power to him.

I think he’s intelligent enough to learn to be a normal SDoper, in that he could treat this place more like the rest of us do if he made a little effort to mentally rearrange himself. He could have a long future here if he decided to. He’s certainly not breaking any rules.

Like in the Jack commercial, “Just go!”

That’s why I’m here and not at another message board.

I hate message boards that act like an extension of chat rooms or IM windows. Another reason I’m here.

Spot on, pez.

Out of 27 000 members, some have probably left without saying goodbye. Just leaving.

Bye.

Smilie, really. You come here and post a lot. Your posts are not stupid, you really do add something to the boards. Thanks for hanging around.

After your couple days of posting a lot you get people talking about you. Cool, huh? But then it cools down. You post a little more, but there is nobody saying “Hey, look at him! He’s doing stuff! COOL!”

So rather than just leaving (like most of those who no longer post here have) you start a thread titled “Bye” (which, btw has a decent number of views).

I’m sorry, but really. You even say in the thread that you’ll post answers to any questions. You can’t just leave without telling anyone, but you can’t just make a dashing dramatic escape, either. You seem to want the attention enough that you actually say you’ll respond to any questions in this thread.

And it’s not like there was any problem to cause you to leave, it’s simply that this wasn’t the type of message board you were looking for.

By looking at your posts it seems you have decent ideas, great points of view and good things to add to a thread. It just seems you can’t stand not being in the spotlight.

You seem to love the attention, I hope where ever you go you get it.

Wow, you even put it in your sig.

Don’t “leave” with the mindset that “I can never go seek information at the SDMB again.” That would really be cutting off your nose to spite your face. I understand if you don’t want to be bothered with the humdrum of MPSIMS or the 'Pit but GQ is probably one of the most plentiful fountains of collective knowledge (literally) in the world. Where else can you ask any question that comes to your mind a have such a good chance of having an answer in the time it takes you to go take a whiz and come back? Don’t forsake that because you think you don’t fit in here.

I say if you don’t feel like hanging around for conversation then that’s a good thing but don’t make it a rule not to ever stop by and check up on things or ask questions.

(In case it hasn’t already been said-) No one leaves the SDMB alive.

You take breaks. If you are lucky they are long breaks. You never leave for good.

Then again here

Just checking your facts. That’s all.

Even if you hate the place, it has a power over you that draws you back.

Eventually you become one of it’s mindless drones - known as ‘Dopers’.
Don’t fight it.

Resistance is futile.

I’m confused. You’re leaving because you have too much work/it’s too much work to follow the board, and also because the average poster doesn’t post 100+ messages a day? Wouldn’t it be even more work to follow the boards if all umpteen thousand members posted 100 times a day?

That is because you can’t leave. I tried once or twice. It is not possible. The power is too great. It is too irresistable. The one board to rule them all.

Which reminds me - what was that film that starred Sean Austin (Sam Gamgee) in which he realizes that the whole world (or is it just America) is being controlled and brainwashed, and he becomes one of the brainwashers, and eventually he tries to leave (but he can’t)

Go, stay, whatever. Is it really that big a deal that you have to debate it in public?

Well, on those forums at most only 30 poeople post regualrily.

I dunno… I want to stay now and post… But I’m afriad I’ll hear constant shouts of “faker!”…

I just took a very long holiday from the board.
I’m back for a little while, then I gotta go do more
dumb old poopy work.

You can always change your mind, and state that in public, like here, and then stick around. Folks may call you fickle, but should not call you a “faker”.
