Well, looking back on the thread…just “stick-up-the-butt” me, really.
Then I guess I’d like to go on record as being one who got it, thought it was appropriate but not funny, and didn’t laugh at all. I don’t think you’re a suck-up; we all just have a different appreciation for what’s funny. I personally think this wasn’t, to be honest. But that’s just as valid an opinion as everyone elses.

Having just read the monstro thread only confirms what I had thought before: this one was pretty lame. It was too obvious, with thirty Mods posting at once, but the monstro one, IMO, was pretty frackin’ hillarious. Good idea, just a little bit too much fighting as to make it unbelievable. Still, mods and admins, thanks for it anyway; this board has had a real serious streak these days. I tip my cardigan sweater in the collective you’ns general direction.

The one thing that made me wonder whether it was really a prank was that lately (including, specifically, yesterday) C K Dexter Haven has been increasingly acting like that stuck-up moralistic prig George Kittredge.
Sure, people went overboard with the “100 _____ Characters” threads in Cafe Society yesterday, but a real mod wouldn’t have needed to close them en masse. If he wanted to kill “100 Waiting for Godot characters” or “100 My Dinner with Andre characters,” I’ve got no problem with that. But some of those threads were legit, and were following the basic idea (once informed of the ground rules, which came late in at least one such thread), and it was interesting to see the quotes that people pulled up for the characters. But apparently Mr. Stuffy decided to toss the baby out with the bathwater, and closed them all down.
