Cabin fever in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. for the day. I guess this is the Easter cold snap. Well, cold snap for this time of year in these parts. Today ‘tis my turn to go lay in provisions. We don’t need much but I shall go. Also, I talked with EYP yestiddy and he asked me if I would make a video of myself leadin’ Compline. I agreed and shall accomplish that today. I will make the recordin’ on my phone and upload it to the church’s website from whence various services will be made available for people to watch/participate. Some will be live but most, like what I am doin’ will be videos. We’re lookin’ at doin’ this for at least the next month it seems. We shall see how this works.

MetalMouse we had Jack’s in YeOldeHomeTowne once upon a time. I think there’s still at least one in Lanett/Valley, Alabammy which are just over the state line about fifteen miles away from YeOldeHomeTowne. So when you say Jack’s I know what that is.

OK, I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe, and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Le Sigh.

Happy Hump Day/April Fool’s Day Y’all!

Another overcast morning, but some sun promised later. We had a fair bit of rain overnight - there are flood warnings for the coastal areas thru noon. Quite a few houses are built close to rivers and the bay, and many are only a foot or so above high tide. After big rains, I’ve seen some homes inundated. I like waterfront property, but on a bit of a rise, thanks. Not that it’s an issue where I live - if we get flooded, it’ll be right after the animals are loaded 2 by 2…

I sent my ex-boss a note asking for my job back, with an April Fools!!! in the next paragraph. I crack me up! I’m not much for pranking - that’ll be the extent of it.

Red, I’m also accumulating stuff for the thrift store. I need to get stuff in the garage organized - some of it can also go, and I can reserve a corner for donations. If not for the glassware, I’d dump it all in a donation box. Still, we’ve got the space, so I can hold it all.

Grocery run today. I’ll make a list because if I don’t, I forget stuff. Not that I need a lot, and Food Lion has been way low on meats lately. If they still are, I may be forced to run to WallyWorld. We’ll see how it goes.

I would like to get another pack of paper towels - I’m down to my last 4 rolls. Not a huge crisis - I could always use cloth towels if necessary - I do have a washer. But sometimes a paper towel is handier. I also need Diet Coke - we’re almost out. And bananas for Roxy. Yep, time to make that list.

And maybe I’ll get out and pick up sticks later. We shall see.

Happy Wednesday, FOOLS!!

The local 9:00 to 11:00 radio talk show host read an email from his boss yesterday forbidding any April Fools pranks. The Station Manager said in the email that this is not a time for levity. It was a good call. This host’s idea of funny can be really nasty at times.

I am back to the grind today. Boss in jammies has been keeping my schedule full enough. He told me yesterday that the GM, who is a definite micromanager, told him that our expected quota has not changed. Yesterday I had a no show for a scheduled job at a closed building and one customer that changed her mind and would not let me do the work. Considering that I am not responsible for scheduling, I just go where I am sent and do what I am told.

We will see how this unfolds…

Happy Hump Day!

Happy April’s Fools Day!

It’s a cloudy 39 degrees, supposed to get up to 57.

Nobody is coming for a playdate today so I slept in until 7.
Echo is crying, running back and forth from the back door to the front door (Jax comes in the front, Lily comes in the back) because nobody is here.
Lily’s mom has to irk, Jax’s mom irks in a store and feels like she should stay away because she comes into contact with a lot of people.
It’s fine with me if she comes over, but it’s her choice not to.
I might start taking them for a walk, but I’ll need my son to go with me as Echo is a handful by herself. And I know for her it won’t be the same, she misses her dog friends and her people friends.
She cried half the time Lily was here yesterday because Jax wasn’t here too.

Lots that needs to be done, but because irk is so slow I see another 80+ hour week.

nellie, right now, the donation bags and boxes are in the backseat of my car. As I find drop boxes, I’ll drop them off.

Up, breakfasted and caffeinating. I go into irk at noon, so FoM stuff will be my afternoon. It’s downright cold here, considering it hit > 80F this past weekend. The sweatshirts are back out.

Welcome the start of April, all. My retirement check showed up in my account on 1 April as expected, showing that the Government has no sense of humor… Only 41F outside now, but heading for 61F. Like you swampy and Moooomm, need to do some shopping, but the list is lighter than before due to various short trips during the past week.

flyboy, add me to the chorus that is glad it was only a low tank and now something more serious.

Bumba, hope the repair bill isn’t too bad–but this is plumbing, so it will be…

Sari, if I lived closer I’d come over and play with the dogs…of course me not being a dog wouldn’t help, but maybe just another face…

Hippy, sounds like the GM is a bit like the pointy-haired boss in Dilbert…

Everybody else assorted hugs, tears, yeas!, and smiles in the proportions required.

We’d love to have you MetalMouse
Both dogs and I enjoy company, although Ripple would keep his distance. He is so funny, he’ll run up to Lily’s mom with a big smile on his face and as soon a she reaches out to pet him he turns and walks away.
The problem is though, you’d come here once, Echo would decide you are part of her pack, throw a fit when you leave, and expect you to show up everyday.

I had good news for my mother this morning. Her church, (also the one I grew up at) has still been managing to have services. One has to sign up online, to keep the numbers down to ten at a time. There are two ministers, and they each hold services every forth five minutes, in different parts of the church. Big strain on them, with lots of extra services. Anyway, the signups for Easter Sunday just went up so I jumped in and got three spaces for my mom. One for her, one for her sister who will be visiting, and one for me, so I can take care of mom. I’m glad I just picked a time and reserved it for her. We were the first I think, but thirty minutes later and looking at the website again, and the word is already spreading, and twenty or thirty have also come in, after us.

It will make mom so happy, and that is my goal. I’m also pleased that I’ll be able to be in church, even if it’s not mine. To my knowledge I’ve never missed on Easter, even when it was the day after my dad’s heart attack.

It’s snowing.

On April 1st.

Not April Fool’s!

How much of a fall is predicted? It sounds strange, to have snow this late.

It’s 36º American, so it’s not sticking. There’s snow, snow and rain, rain… Not a lot coming down, but it’s definitely snowing. I heard on a Canadian (Vancouver) station a couple of days ago that they expected a low of 1ºC, but I didn’t catch the day. I guess it’s today.

Brrr! If there’s one thing keeping many people’s spirits up around here, it’s the blossoming flowers and plants. The brilliant yellow of the forsythia, along with the daffodils, the redbuds, and whatever that white flowered tree is, make one feel better.

I’m a random church goer, but even I was wondering about Easter services. It is the most important day in Christianity and I feel bad for people who won’t be able to attend services.

Well, copying my boss’ boss on my “official request to work from home since the governor has said to and I included the form” seems to have done the trick. My boss claims she has never had a problem with me working from home. WTF. Sad thing is I enjoy coming to the office and am more productive here. I don’t want to work from home. I’m kinda cranky today.

I found out my tree with the white blooms is a magnolia.
Very pretty, but the blooms don’t last long enough.

Glad things worked out so well on Easter for you, cupcake; as the resident heathen, I don’t attend, but I do know how important Easter is to many and hooray for the pastors taking on that load to do it right for their folks.

wet one, I can understand; to many distractions at home, I’d never get a lick of work done. Hang in there.

flyboy, y’all keep that snowy-there stuff up North, y’hear?

Sari, maybe someday…

Shopping mission completed, did not find rye bread but did get a copy of today’s New York Times, so I call it even. Now inside for the balance of what looks like a nice day.

All y’all take care.

Just back from Food Lion. Nary a paper product to be seen! I even ran by the dollar store to see if they had any paper towels. Nope.

But I got lots of 'nannas, some blackberries that were on sale, a spiral sliced ham, and assorted other stuff - pretty much everything on my list (plus some) except for paper towels. And that’s not a huge deal. So I’m good.

Roxy is napping. SIL just finished showering. I guess I’m stuck in here till she wakes up. I want to start picking up sticks in the front yard - wonder if I can convince her it’s a fun game???

It stopped a while ago. The temperature’s up to 40º, and it looks like the Sun might try to come out.

Instacart came through yesterday, and we got most of what we ordered from two different stores. No milk and no flour, however. My neighbor, who is still doing foraging runs to local stores at age 76, scored me a bag of flour this morning and a half-gallon of milk. I don’t drink the stuff, but my wife does. She’ll have to ration herself, I guess. I did get buttermilk, so biscuits are a go. From what I’m seeing online, Costco is still getting hammered. The only paper product that isn’t in high demand appears to be printer paper. I ordered and received five reams from Amazon this week; I don’t think it will service well as TP, though.

As for cabin fever, I go out for a walk most days. The wife is tending to be a hermit, but muttered something yesterday about maybe going for a drive.

On the bright side, it’s our 27th anniversary today!

Your mention of the Food Lion makes me remember a line from Animal House, when Karen Allen distracts the cops by hollering “Officers, they’re looting the Food Lion!”

Well obviously I talk to the appliances too Nellie, but they have jobs to do, and I don’t want to distract them while they’re working.

I actually ventured into town  today, to go pick up some allergy meds. It wasn’t as quiet as I was expecting, actually; despite this being a pretty rural area, with plenty of nice walks and a park, a decent number of people appeared to be taking the toddlers for a walk down the -all closed aside from food shops and the pharmacy- high street.
