I like the original Pawn Stars (yeah, I’m one of those guys), though it certainly has it’s faults.
The Cajun Pawn Stars I find much more entertaining. There are only a couple of episodes but they deal in stuff the Vegas guys don’t, like livestock. I love all of the Southernisms in their discussions. Interestingly in those two episodes I’ve seen them actually buy only one or two items. Plus the main guy is much more serious, and not constantly giggling.
I have a stereotypical Cajun surname, but was raised outside of The Bayou State, which means that I rarely heard my name pronounced right for most of my life. Of course, that cuts both ways – the last couple of times I’ve gone to family reunions folks looked at each other and said “Who dat Yankee boy?”
If I start talking like my Louisiana relatives, my daughter collapses in hopeless giggle fits (must be genetic…her mother reacts the same way). I think having her watch Cajun Pawn Stars would probably serve up a lethal overdose.
