Ok, since you’ve all been waiting so patiently, here is the baby in his new sweater. Isn’t he cute?
We have a [del]sucker[/del] volunteer for Monday’s MMP. We need to put it to official vote.
All in favor of Sean posting next week’s MMP (he volunteered, really. No arm twisting involved. Besides, a few weeks in a cast and he’ll be good as new!) say “Aye”
** AYE!!!**
All those opposed [del] like we care[/del] say “Nay”
** ::CRICKETS::**
The “Ayes” have it! Sean shall be our [del]pigeon[/del] fearless leader next week.
It’ll be lovely to see something from Sean on Monday. I think some of the quiet is that Taters hasn’t been here (taking care of her MIL, I hope). Also, sometimes we catch up on the weekend.
You know who else hasn’t stopped by in about 1,000 years? That guy who used to always start these things…what was his name again? (Hi Rue!
)
I’m home from work and off to find some food.
Back after a while…

We have been remiss. rosie has a big night tonight and none of us has wished her good luck. Shame on us!
So… in an effort to atone for our remissness…
** GOOD LUCK ROSIE!!!**
WOOO! WOOO! Good game tonight, we had a hat trick, a shut out, and a butt save. I need to walk wonderdog, then bed because I have to be at work at 6a.m. tomorrow.
Good luck Rosie
SCL, Magic looks good in his sweater. I might get Maggie a Canes T-shirt for Christmas.
Thankyou, thankyouverymuch. It went very well. Except I screwed up my little solo. But I don’t think the audience noticed (I will probably have nightmares). We sold 20 more tickets this year than our 2004 Fashion Show. And tons more raffle tickets - the winner of the 50/50 got over $300!! (and it was someone at my table - yay.) I won a little pamper bag - scented candle, scented soap, and 3 sizes of make-up/jewelry bags. Perfect, because the one I have all my chorus stuff in now is bursting.
Yes there are pictures. I’ll probably have the album up tomorrow afternoon, if anyone is interested.
rosie, I’d like to see pictures.
SCL, Magic does look cute, and like he knows it.
Speaking of clothes on animals: Chicken diapers! Teh internets are a wonderful thing. Who knew so many people kept chickens (and turkeys! ) as housepets?
0.Whhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I hate away games!
DB, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I’m sure you uderstand. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Stoopid refs.
I blame NaNoWriMo
Ali wants to be Judge Garzón in stead of Judge Garzón! (<- no-prize to anybody who knows where this comes from, and I don’t mean Garzón’s name)
What does one do with a degree in anti-terrorism justice? Join the CIA?
The way the Spanish judicial system works is so completely different from the American system that it’s finally inspired a couple TV series. The guys pitching the idea realized that any spaniard can tell you American judges get elected and quote Grisham on how to select a biased jury, but very few can explain what an “instructing judge” is or why is becoming a “notary” even harder than becoming a judge.
Actually my ideal job would be to be an intelligence analyst for the CIA or DOD.
I don’t think many Americans can tell you much about our own judicial system beyond Grisham novels and court room dramas.
Two words:
Mick McGeough :smack:
Coffee time!
Get in touch with me when you’re ready to apply for jobs - I have friends in a number of agencies and I might be able to get your resume seen out of the crowd. Although I don’t know anyone doing anti-terrorism, and I can’t make any promises, but I’d be glad to help you however I can. Oh - assuming you’re ready to work before January 2010, because I’ll be retiring then.
Good morning! It’s my day off, and I was up before 6. Partly due to a cat who wanted to get under my covers, but mostly because I’m always up at this hour. Heck, I’m at work at this hour. So I’m up. **FCD ** is still abed so I’m having some “me” time. When he’s ready, we’ll go out to breakfast and see where the day takes us. I know one stop is the marina - he forgot to close one of the thru-hull valves and it’s been eating at him. I pointed out that if the boat had sunk, Lennie would have called us. Marina managers are like that - they don’t like to see masts sticking out of 14 feet of water with no boat visible.
Weatherman promises us a couple more mild November days - yay. I had the house open for a few hours yesterday afternoon, and I’ll try to do the same today. Fresh air is good. Soon enough, we’ll be sealed up tight till spring.
Speaking of jobs in intel, I have to share this little poem one of my spooky associates shared with me:
As I was coming down the stair
I met a man who wasn’t there.
He wasn’t there again today.
I think he works for CIA.
And that was today’s Culture Corner.
Oh my culture! I feel as if I should be sipping tea and remembering to dab my mouth with a cloth napkin instead of my sleeve. That’s a lot of pressure first thing in the morning!
Yeah, swampy, and you need to remember to have your pinky extended when you scratch…
Dang this culture stuff has a lot of rules!
There was a man who never was
This tragedy occurred because
His parents, being none too smart
Were born three hundred years apart!
Ahem. Good morning, all.
QD will be arriving at either nine-ish or nine-thirty (I don’t remember what time she has to drop some people off) and she phoned me last night to say she wants to make brioche and pierogies. I’m going to try to talk her into just doing brioche, and buying pierogies. We’ll see. She generally has unrealistic expectations about how much cooking you can fit into one day.
Yawn. Time for tea. I’m glad I’m not working today.
Glad your show went well, rosie. I’ll bet you’re the only one who noticed anything about your solo…
Morning all! Wow, poetry at this early hour. OK, so it’s not so early any more.
I have the day off. Fell asleep sometime before 10 and woke up at 4:30. Fell asleep several more times and then got up for real maybe an hour ago.
Off to work in the church garden for a while, then lunch, then my own garden.
Mmmmm, brioche and pierogies sounds good.
GT
I have to work today.
I’m so jealous of all of you who have today off.
Pierogies sound like a good idea LiLi. I may just have to buy some and have them for dinner. What goes well with pierogies? And what else should I make for dinners this week? I like to do my grocery shopping on the way home from work on Fridays so I need to come up with a menu for the upcoming week. After a few months of doing this, I’m coming up blank.
FRIDAY! Woohoo! And it’s a payday too. Not that I get to enjoy any of that money really … damn bills.
Been feeling really blah and overworked the last couple of days – probably just a lack of sleep, but I can make up for that this weekend.
Finally got the AC adapter for my spare cradle last night so now I’ve set up my PDA in its seat on my desk finally. Now maybe I can configure it to retrieve my E-Mail automatically because I’m really bad at checking my own work E-Mail. Not that I get a lot of it – which is probably why I’m bad at checking it.
I also got everything cleared up with the Shure headphone guy, so my buds are being shipped out today, which means I should get them Monday or Tuesday. Yay! No more trashy Apple earbuds that never fit properly and sound like crap! Seriously, how do people wear those earbuds? I see people on the bus all the time and they just hang there in the ears and nobody can seem to agree on exactly how they’re supposed to go. I’ve tried using them the way others seem to and I just can’t. If it isn’t painfully uncomfortable it’s too far away to sound very good or it’s pointing too far away from the ear canal to sound like more than putting your ear to the door of someone who’s holding a loud party. I had to buy “iBuds” for my iPod headphones, which are soft silicone covers that turn them into pseudo-in-ear-monitors. They still sound like crap but they fit better. Not perfect – they still have a tendancy to slide out of the ear canal, and they’ve caused me to think that my right ear is shaped differently than my left because I always have trouble getting the right bud to fit properly. I hate these buds. The Shures can’t arrive soon enough.
