Had a minor mishap at lunch with friends. One of them was reaching for her wallet and dumped her lemonade over. It was quite spectacular, soaking both of us, (eww, damp jeans for the rest of the day), the table, the floor, splashing the window…
A couple of people stopped by to check on the scarf project. They determined that it is too fiddly, takes too long, and they will therefore be busy for the rest of the day. I don’t mind, it should keep me busy for the afternoon, if I stop posting on the Dope.
Without going into TMI territory, I’ve had a butt problem going the past couple of days, and today I’ve gotten some relief. Thank Og.
Since today is a virtual holiday and I’m a federal contractor, I’m supposed to work because this holiday isn’t in my contract. Actually, I’m working at home :nudge: :nudge: VWife is pissed at me because I’m actually trying to do so, and she wants me working on her honeydo list instead.
My question of the day - why is my grape “fierce” Gatorade blue? Grapes aren’t blue. There is no blue food. Blueberries aren’t even blue! So why is my Gatorade blue?
I hope the guys do better in tonights game than they did last night. This new “NHL enforcement” idea sucks diseased goat scrotums - there is no flow to the game.
I don’t know what’s happened, but I just wasn’t able to keep up with the MMP this week. I read the OP on Monday, then lost track of time or sumpin’. So my first post of the week is on page 6. Hmm. Too much time in Cafe Society, I guess.
And reading Sampiro posts. Glad to have him back.
I haven’t accomplished much this week. Just cooking, and a bit of vacuuming and dusting. I planned my menu and shopping list for Thanksgiving, but it may have to be revised if Mr. Rebo’s niece and family don’t come. That’s still up in the air.
I made some Red Zinger tea mixed with apple juice. I saw it on the Food Network, and it looked nummy. Blech. I poured it out. I don’t like Red Zinger tea.
I got a call from a co-worker today just to say hi. It’s nice that they miss me! We’re gonna have lunch real soon.
Snakes stuff to eat and drink ain’t supposed to be blue. If’n it’s blue that means it’s poison or windex. Like cream soda. I see this blue stuff called cream soda. Never had it. Never will. It looks like poison or windex. I ain’t drinkin’ those. It’s just wrong. Plain. Wrong.
There was the time as an adolescent bear I thought it’d be fun to put blue food coloring in the rice. I was told, in no uncertain terms, to never ever touch the food coloring again. My mama is five feet tall and might weigh a hundred pounds soaking wet but she’s mean! She put the fear o’ Gawd in five chilluns whenever we needed it. I never touched the food coloring again. I feared. I quaked.
We bought a new toy today! It’s a tow-behind-the-riding-mower-leaf-vac and it works good! The frugal side of me said: “$1100?!?!? We have perfectly good rakes!” But the achy, rake-hating side of me said: “$1100! Well worth it! Yay! Huzzah! WooANDhoo!!”
**FCD ** dragged it around part of the front yard today, and when I get back from class tomorrow, I’ll drive it around the back yard, and maybe the side strip along the street.
And that was pretty much our day. We did run by WalMart for critter food, and after Lowe’s, we ran to the marina and happily found the boat floating. So now all of the thru-hulls are closed and we don’t have to wonder if it’ll sink.
Then we came home and put together the vac cart, then I picked up branches while my sweetie sucked up leaves. I’ve got a load in the washer, and once I toss it in the dryer, I think I’ll hit the shower. It got up around 70 today, so I had the house open, but it’s now dark and all the windows are closed again.
I wish the Food Fairy would show up with a nice meal. I think dinner is gonna be leftover rotissie chickie. What I want is a bowl of soup. <sigh>
I finished the scarves! Woo hoo! Ugly suckers. I checked the label and they’re supposed to be 100% silk. They sure feel and look like polyester, though. We have officially completed 500, with 150 unaccounted for somewhere in the building. Have I mentioned that they are really ugly? And the ribbons clash with the scarves? And that the cards are a hideously off version of our logo colors, so they don’t match either the scarf or the ribbon?
Thanks for all the good wishes. In celebration of this auspicious day, I’ve pulled out a bunch of plants and done a bit of cleaning in the garage.
Also, I’ve read about half of the Janet Evanovich novel that was on hold for me at the library (my library automatically holds new books by authors that I select). It’s Motor Mouth. Not quite as good as the last Stephanie Plum, but still quite amusing. And a quick read.
Oh…LiLi, meant to tell you: guess what my book club is reading next time? Gilead.
And AC is allowing New Girl to train her? Or does she not have a choice? Sounds fascinating. And the scarves sound…errrm…lovely. Don’t suppose there’s a chance for a picture? Maybe there’s a silk scandal similar to the cashmere scandal?
Wanna come rake my yard, FCM? I would feed you and FCD.
Glad to hear they miss you at work, Rebo. That’s always a good sign. How are you feeling?
Yep…blue indicates Windex. Not to be consumed.
Well…gotta go search for some food. I’m thinking maybe some quesadillas.
Happy Bappy Dappy tappy Yappy, Gappy Tappy
I’m feeling silly tonight. I dropped the car off this morning, then the mechanic gave me a ride home so I wouldn’t be bored reading car repair mags. But they didn’t start on it til after 2pm. Its finished, but I won’t have it back til tomorrow, because I slept thru the phone call. Oh well.
I’m going to work on the photos now for a while, then crawl into bed.
