Cake vs. Pie

No, meh cake is better than great pie. In fact, that doesn’t even really work – pie can never really be better than meh. On occasion it’s ok, but in the end, it’s still just pie.

3.14% of people will be whooshed by that.

I voted cake but only because frosting is the winner (especially chocolate). Cake is merely the vehicle on which it is served. Unfrosted cake (why?) is inferior to pie.

  1. Black Bottom Pie
  2. Pumpkin Pie
  3. Lazy Day Lemon Pie
  4. Fudge Pecan Pie
  5. Apple Pie

It would be hard to give up “Liz’s Fruitcake” (Applesauce, Banana, Raisin, Date, Walnut, Spice), but I definitely make more pies than cakes.

Now, between Pie and Cookies. . . that would be a hard decision.

It really depends on the cake and depends on the pie. But if I really, really, really have to decide, I can only say pie.

I figured a crusty guy like you would get it. Piece of cake. Or easy as pie.

Would you like a Shepard’s pie?

Ah crap. I just now got your joke.

I voted for cake because of the frosting, but with the the realization that cheesecake is actually pie, I may have voted incorrectly; cheesecake is the only pie that is always better than cake. Those who named it realized the general superiority of cake and named it in reflection of this fact. Cheesepie doesn’t have the same appeal.

Cheesecake > Pie > Normal Cake

A really good cherry pie noses out chocolate cake with marshmallow chocolate icing. But it is close and depends on mood.

Agreed. I’ve very rarely had icing that I liked. The other day at work we had a gorgeous cake shaped like a 3D turkey. It was a shame to see it cut up, because all that was left was crappy slices of cake with nauseatingly sweet icing. I used to love icing until I was about five. I ate a bunch of icing one evening and vomited twice that night.

Cake is to die for and besides, pie has meringue, which sucks. If only cheesecake were truly cake, there’d be no contest.

Pie. I’ve never had a bad cake, but outside of red velvet no cake really gets me excited to get dessert. The average pie is equally good, and lemon meringue/coconut cream/banana cream and even a really well made cherry are near orgasmic.

Forgetting about attempted double negative, this means that you suckers who chose ‘cake’ will never have pizza again.

I hope you enjoy your dank, gray, cold little cake-filled world.

I pretty much hate pie so this was easy.

Cheesecake wins it for pie I guess.

Pumpkin pie is pretty fantastic too (but I would go for cake if cheesecake was cake).

Pizza is no more “pie” than cheesecake is “cake.”

You make an excellent point.

But “Pizza pie” is widely used. And consider, it’s a flat dough, put in a pan with slightly raised sides, filled with toppings and baked in an oven until the crust crisps slightly (depending) and the top browns. Pizza pie.
Cake has those stoopid ball bearing things on it and frequent mispellings.

And besides, we all know the untruthiness of cake.

So by your logic, “cheesecake” should count as cake. It’s got “cake” in the name too, after all.

In defense of Cake, I did like “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”.
