Torties have very Siamese-like attitudes, in my experience, no Siamese mixture needed. I’ve seen it referred to as “tortietude” here and there online. Wonderful cats. My mom’s Emily, the BossCat, is a little six-pound tortie who can out-attitude just about any other cat I’ve ever met.
They resemble my Squirrel Cat*! My niece the Vet Tech calls her a dilute Torti, but her adoption papers from the Humane Society say “calico”. I just think she’s pretty.
*That is the name she picked herself and answers to.
I wish I wasn’t so deathly allergic to cats. My dog loves them and these picture threads always make me want to get one. But, alas, it is not meant to be.
Actually, Sphynx cats are not hypo-allergenic. In fact, they’re some of the more allergenic cats out there, because the allergy is usually not to the hair but to the dander. Since the Sphynx has no hair to hold the dander, it tends to get out and around more than a furry kitty’s would.
I’ve heard Abyssinians and Russian Blues are good for people with cat allergies.
My spouse had a pretty bad cat allergy–he got the shots and now we have seven cats with nary a problem. Well, except for too many cats, of course. No more!
