Call of Duty (PC Game)

I’m about three hours into it, and I think I’m on to it.

Anyone else playing this?

Heh. I snapped it up the day that it was released, and finished it inside of a week (which is really fast for me, considering that I don’t get nearly enough time to play).

Great game. Enjoy it!

Same with me, and at first I didn’t like the multiplayer. Now that is catching on with me too. Try Deathmatch on the rocket level.

A really solid WWII infantry sim. I think the Us and Russian sequences were the strongest (the British bit involved a little too much standard FPS single guy vs entire platoons of Nazis stuff).

I love the start of the Russian campaign: it’s funny and shocking. The beachead bit, with mostly unarmed soldiers scrambling everywhich way up the hill, planes divebomibg everything, and your own officers shooting you if you go the wrong way, is just a stunning bit of PC madness.

Great Game ~! If you liked MoH, you’ll love CoD. The multiplayer maps take some getting used to, but they rock.

Apos, for the start of the Russian campaign, they used scenes straight out of the movie “Enemy at the Gates”. Check it out for a good sniper/war movie and you’ll be amazed at the similarity to the game.

cheers

I just wrapped up the sub.

Insanely scripted and forced, but like SOF. Coolish.

Very weird.

Anyone else waiting, and hoping, that the new HF-2, Doom series sparks some new, more interesting angles?

This stuff is fun, but…

Oh, and the Spielberg thing… way cool.

Sub? What sub?

I thought it was a ship that you’re on when an explosion occurs and the ship begins listing badly. You have to find your way out by walking on walls and ceilings.

Is this the level you just finished CNoteChris?

Wow. My bad.

I was thinking about the ship. The level where you take a boatride out to the cruiser, and have to get to the bridge?

That one.

Not at the upside-down level. Thanks for the heads-up though.

As linear as it is, it’s still tough in that it’s a bitch and a half trying to figure out what they want you to do next.

“I want to go over here.”

Sorry. Can’t do. Go over there.

Nope, it’s my turn to be embarrassed - the scene that I described was from MOHAA:Breakthrough. Sorry about that!

And yes, the ship mission is a tough one - you can’t just blindly follow your compass because the stairs to get you up or down one level might be at the other end of the ship.

You should really enjoy the Russian campaign. Good stuff!

Sorry again about mixing up the games. :smack:

I may be mixing and matching games here but these new WWII games look an awful lot like digital versions of Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor, Enemy at the Gates and other recent WWII movies.

…as I see now that Skillet38 said the very same thing.

Yes, Medal of Honor in both the PC and PS2 versions had a very strong Normandy invasion reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan. The MoH expansion pack Spearhead tried to capture the battle in the Ardennes forest shown in Band of Brothers.

Call of Duty also takes from BoB in it’s Brecourt mission. You are essentially put in the position of Capt Winters on the morning of June 6th. Good stuff!
