Just thinking that since most of the since most users are American we should have a special area for Euro’s to bitch about the EU/anti-EU, state of EU etc.

I’m from England, which counts as Europe when we want it to. I’d just like to say that, perhaps unlike other places, I think there’s probably quite an interesting diversity of EU-related opinion held by the American Majority here. I’m not certain what would be the point of a separate area, but hey.
No point really, just thought it would be good to see how many Euros there were on straight dope.
Quite a few of us, really, although I can’t put a number on it. Well, you have now found Mangetout and me (Scotland) already. Others might be busy doing something daft like sleeping. 
I can see why you might think of a “special area” to discuss Euro-type matters, but I don’t think it is really needed. At least, I don’t really think the powers-that-be would want to increase the number of fora to serve all sorts of interest groups. Given a forum for Euro-people, then why not one for those in Japan, Hong Kong, et, and one for those working in the field of healthcare, and one for those working in education, military, I.T. … And a forum for appreciation of icky little babies, or dogs or cats …
And welcome to the S.D.M.B. - nice to have another member/guest from the side
of the pond that spells things properly.
(Folks, that was a joke, really. Or perhaps it ought to be “jouke”). 
I’d enjoy having such a forum, but it would have problems:
(a) Unintended parochialism. Any discussion about football would be shunted into the BritForum, whether it were the most appropriate place or not.
(b) Not-entirely-intended parochialism. Discussions about music, policit
We could have a ‘Euro forum’ where all Europen stuff gets discussed. However, if the logic of this is that demand requires supply, we need an American forum where they can talk about all that stuff we don’t give a toss about.
Bumping this one, if that’s all right, just to improve firespinner’s chances of finding Irish, British, Euro-in-general people when awake.

(Yep. it had occured to me to mention NADS (mainly British and Irish, with some U.S.A. and Australians) but simply was not sure about mentioning other boards here. I am a small and law-abiding and cowardly Celyn, and not as wise as Rayne Man.)
Never! I love that the SDMB has an international membership - it’s great to get so many different perspectives. But I know that there are a couple of “satellite” MBs for Dopers of different regions. There’s NADS, and I think the antipodeans have one too. Which is cool.
