It seems the newest (as far as I know) of our ranks, Smashed Ice Cream, is a bartender at a place called McDuff’s Tavern (1635 SE 7th).
During the course of fighting ignorance in this thread, JSexton and I discussed meeting there, but decided to postpone for various reasons (read the thread for more details).
Anyway, I’m wondering if any of y’all are interested in converging there sometime in the upcoming weeks for a night of revelry. They have Jubelale on tap(!) and many others. It seems Monday and Thursday nights are best for Ms. Smashed (and there’s live blues on Thursdays—though that might not be ideal for conversation…)
So, anybody interested? Okay, I herby withdraw my venue suggestion. If it’s too small and, more importantly, if it would make you uncomfortable, then by all means let’s do it elsewhere. The last one was at The Horse Brass Pub on Belmont, but I think we all agreed that we’d prefer someplace with round tables for easier conversation. The St. Johns Pub was also suggested—they have couches and coffee tables.
Monday night works best for me. I’m bummed I have missed out on the last couple, I’d really like to make one. I tend to be financially emberassed most times, but I should be able to save a few bucks.

I will do my utmost to get my sorry self to a Portland Dopefest, even if it happens to be on the east side. (I am one with the metro system.) Weeknights happen to be bad for me, seeing as how I’m still in high school, and happen to have parents.
And I’ll wear something distinctive this time, so that I don’t have to sit alone again wondering who’s who. Thankfully Atreyu said something. ( ::waves!:: )
Anyway… please excuse my lack of posting, I’ve been constructing a life for myself. Hope to see/meet you all soon.
But since we are no longer restricted to Monday or Thursday, and for the benefit of us working stiffs (and those with parents), let me go ahead and suggest a Friday night. And to give plenty of notice, I will further suggest Friday, December 21st. (That’s 3 weeks from today)
I am not sure if I can make it. I will have to check the show schedule for my improv group… I may be performing on the 21st. (Either way I will probably be able to make it afterwards, the show doesn’t get out very late. But it depends on when y’all gt together.)
But I do work the next morning (I know, can’t make anybody happy, can ya! ) so either way I can’t go out and play too late.

Well, I don’t think the date is necessarily set in stone. If you’d care to propose an alternate time? Let’s try to agree on some time/place that works for everyone, if we can.
Its fine by me… really. I’ll be there about 9 or so if it is on that date, thats assuming I am performing on that night. Otherwise, don’t worry about planning around me. Do whats best for the group at large.
