Calling all Samoans!

My wife and I are hoping to adopt a Samoan baby( well, half Samoan).
The first order of business is to name the little shaver. She will be born into the world in about a month.
We really want her to know her heritage and that will certainly involve a few trips to the islands, but right now we would like to have any input as to names.
I’m having trouble finding a database of Samoan names.
Any help would be most welcome.

Now, we live in the boonies , about as far from Samoa as you can get. The next order of business is to find an online community that will accept our situation and give us a hand with advice and resources. I’m feverishly trying to hit the ground running , here.

The only thing wrong with the Kabalarians site is that they’re kinda loopy. They have a few names, but their “definitions” kind of involve a crystal ball.:rolleyes:

I was hoping I could find Samoan meanings to Samoan names.

I did find a promising link to a group in San Francisco , though.

Mrs. Rastahomie and I are friends with a Samoan guy and an American woman. They have three kids; from youngest to oldest they are (spelling approximate):

Oleana; girl, 11 months.

Keilani; girl, 4 years.

Ned:smack: ; boy, 6 years.

I think both girls’ names are names for flowers. OK now that I think about it, Keilani might mean “sunrise” or “sunset” or something.

Thanks, tell him I have many questions about the repercussions in the birth fathers’ family from his having given up parental rights.
This seems to really weigh heavily on him.

arrrggghhhh, the kiss of death!
I thought that asking for a link to an on-line community WAS asking for a fact.
Also, wouldn’t it be a factual answer if someone came up with a list of Samoan names?
