What’s Jurgens doing with this character? Every once in a while I see snippets about Thor taking over for Odin, a second Thor, a Thor Girl, and Thor taking over Earth??
Can anyone give me (or direct me to) a synopsis of what’s going on with this character?
Thanks.
With mine enchanted hammer Mjolnir, I bump this forsaken thread!
When I first read the title of this thread, I thought you were asking, “Can someone help me get a date with Thor.” And I thought of both the Marvel character and Canada’s muscle-bound god of heavy metal. (Don’t ask. Just Google him.) The dog from the terrible Mariel Hemingway werewolf film Bad Moon (1996) also crossed my mind.
That said, I can’t help you with your actual question. But, I too would be greatly interested in knowing what’s been going on with the god of thunder. I collected about a dozen consecutive issues a couple of years ago (when Thor’s alter ego was that paramedic), but then missed a few and quit. (I’m a completist. It’s either all or nothing with me. And we don’t have a comic shop around here.)
Anyhoo, I second Hey you!'s plea for information…
I did some more digging and found this nice summary.
It stops short of some of the more recent issues, but I found out what’s been happening in those from another site (that I can’t access from here at work right now):
The more recent issues have Cap & Iron Man (mostly a souped-up Iron Man) go up against their fellow Avenger in an effort to stop him from “benevolently” taking over the Earth. After denting Cap’s shield with Mjolnir, Thor acquiesces, repairs Cap’s shield and gives up his Avengers membership.
From there, the title shifts into a “possible future” story (I think called "“The Reigning” where Asgard crashes onto NYC and Thor goes through with taking over earth, seemingly corrupted by power.
I may be able to provide the other site later tonight. Stay tuned.
I believe there is a current miniseries out now detailing Thor’s origin (and his childhood). No idea who the creative team is, though.
