Can anyone identify MY movie?

Inspired by the post below, I thought I’d write what I can remember from a movie I saw several years back.

It was a japanese/chinese martial arts film, badly dubbed into English.

The movie was set in the days of ninjas and stuff in China. Like the same age as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (but nowhere near as high budgeted)

It looked to have been made (quite cheaply) in the late 60s to early 80s.

Parts of the movie I can remember are:

Two men fighting, then one pauses and says, “Oh, those finger rings of his are really hurting me”

The same man who commented on the finger rings rode into a town on a white horse. (This is really helpful  )

About 50 ninjas are sleeping in beds in a big building (possibly a big tent). Several bad guys come in and slit like, everyone’s throat.

There is a 40-50 year old man doing calligraphy in a hut. While he does the calligraphy, he performs loads of martial arts moves, and wire-assisted moves to do it. He leaps up and hooks his legs on the beams of the hut, and does the calligraphy upside down at one point. His daughter is outside, and she is coming onto some guy - but when he responds to her advances she cries, “Help Daddy” (or something) and the calligraphy man (with no hesitation) leaps head-first out of the bamboo-cane barred window of his hut, to her rescue.

If this movie DID exist (and I’m starting to believe it was all some strange dream) then please, someone help!

While I haven’t seen the movie, from the calligraphy bit it sounds like The Prodigal Son might be a contender.

So, were there ninjas in this movie, or was it set in China?

“Those ninjas… They’re whacky!”

OMG Darwin’s Finch, I think you’re right! I looked at your link, and also looked around for the movie on google a bit, and all the bits I remember are there!

Thanks for the help, I gotta go and get me a copy of The Prodigal Son - and I recommend everyone else does too
