Can I be the only person stunned at just how badly President Joe Biden is doing?

The rest would be waiting for him to show up at Dealey Plaza three days later.

Agreed.

I think Biden has a challenge in uniting the Sanders and Clinton wings. The website “538 dotcom” implies (from a composite of recent polls) 50% of Americans currently “disapprove of Biden’s performance” and 42% approve. I think he did well with Covid. It took time to pass a basic infrastructure bill even with bipartisan support but that is done.

Some of this was the way Afghanistan ended, though it had to. Much of this is by Trumpistas showing off their characteristic interpolative skills. But some is by disaffected Democrats whose expectations were not always realistic.

Biden is a folksy charmer and a welcome change. But he is perhaps less charismatic than Obama and much less melodramatic than Trump. If need be, I wonder which Democrats could best challenge Trump if he is around, and wants the nomination.

You should run for President. You could out-asshole Trump without even trying.

It’s a literal race to the bottom!

No scumbag in the White House, and the trumptrash are gritting their tooth and sobbing bitter tears.

It’s morning in America.

TBF, there are Dem voters who think that.

Not that that has anything to do with this thread or OP, of course.

( I wonder who’d drop out first…? )

How many Infrastructure Weeks did Dolt45 have and never deliver on a bit of it? So it took over 9 months to get the bipartisan bill through. That’s 39 less months than dipstick had. Stock market is at record highs, the ill-advised Afghan war is over, unemployment is next to nothing. What’s not to love? Ah yes, our precious children might be taught about the legacy of racism. Plus Hunter Biden had a laptop. And Hillary and something something emails.

New USA Today poll out:

  • A year before the 2022 midterm elections, Republicans hold a clear lead on the congressional ballot as President Joe Biden’s approval rating sinks to a new low of 38%…
  • Nearly half of those surveyed, 46%, say Biden has done a worse job as president than they expected, including 16% of those who voted for him. Independents, by 7-1 (44%-6%), say he’s done worse, not better, than they expected.
  • Nearly two-thirds of Americans, 64%, say they don’t want Biden to run for a second term in 2024. That includes 28% of Democrats…
  • Vice President Kamala Harris’ approval rating is 28% – even worse than Biden’s.

Go tell it through the mailslot, over the hills, and everywhere.

It’s weird, though; poll numbers are poll numbers. But in this context, in this thread, it sort of feels…disconnected. Not quite irrelevant, but irrelevant to this thread. I don’t know if I’m expressing myself well; it’s a weird feeling.

And just to refresh my memory, has Kamala Harris actually done anything to have worse numbers than her boss that I’m not recalling?

She has the nerve to sport an extra X chromosome. Unbelievable!

Also extra melanin.

She was elected while black and the GQP wants to press charges.

The network news was sort of pissing me off tonight, talking about embattled President Biden coming home from his overseas trip to face his critics.

Jeez, one of his landmark bills passed two days ago, the Dow is up - again- and the jobs numbers released last week were fantastic. He should be coming home to take a victory lap.

He is taking a victory lap, here are headlines from the NY Times and Fox News:

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/06/us/politics/biden-infrastructure-speech.html

All of those things can be true; that people are criticizing him (of course they are, he’s the President of the United States of America), that he is embattled (again, part of being PUSA), that he has some tough work ahead (again, PUSA, it’s a tough job), that he recently had a major victory (hell yes he did) and that he’s rightfully celebrating.

Bad news sells better than good news, so if a media outlet highlights the bad things that’s to be expected. But even Fox News of all places acknowledges that it was a major victory.

In February the CBO projections showed it would take until 2023 to reach a 4.6% unemployment rate, down from the 6.8% rate during 2020 and COVID.

Last Friday the BLS announced that the unemployment rate was down to…4.6%.

Thanks, Brandon!

One thing is certain. You are stunned.

We really need to start pro-rating these numbers. We’re at a point where virtually all Republicans will disapprove of any Democratic office holder, regardless of what the Democrats are actually doing. Their opinion really doesn’t mean anything more than, “They’s a Demmie-crat!”

So, tell us what the approval numbers are among actual Democrats, and independents. If that support is below 50%, then there’ s a problem.
