Can I change my SDMB username?

If not I’d like it be deleted. I don’t want anybody to take offence.

Sure, you can change it by writing to the moderators. CDexterHaven just changed mine for me.

But I don’t get what’s offensive about your current name.

Maybe I’m missing something. I mean…I’m sure I’m missing something.

Usually I believe the administration will change your username once. That’s a freebie - after that you’d better have a good reason to change.

I don’t see what’s offensive about your name either. But who am I, anyway?

You can generally get a name change by sending an e-mail to an administrator (not a mere moderator like myself). It’s best to offer two or more choices in case your first choice is taken or somehow inappropriate.

Since this is a question about this message board, I"ll move the thread to the ATMB forum.

NO,Mr./Ms,you should have thought of that before we left home! Now,you’ll just have to wait until you get back home to your computer and get down on your knees and beg an admin to let you change it.

I hope this teaches you a lesson you’ll never forget.

I always considered your user name to be a nauseating breach of human decency.

This thread is bizarre.

Don’t change. I like you just the way you are.

Ah. So it’s not just my computer being wierd then!

Right…just to clear things up, I did not have the first post in this thread (is it like that for everyone?).

Apparently any time the board has to be taken down for work, it’s gonna be a little weirder than usual around here until things sort themselves out.

Not sure why. Not sure if there’s anything to be done about it.

“What cannot be cured must be endured.”

Is this an admission that people are paying money for crappy service?

Well, from that “Guest” under your name, it’s clear that you aren’t.

For the rest of us, we’re pleased to have a community of intelligent, thinking people with whom to exchange ideas and debate with mutual respect – and grateful to the Chicago Reader for having underwritten the entire cost for five years, and most of it for the last six months.

Have a nice life!

I’m changing my name to Polycarp.

Talk about your backhanded compliments.

The new server had different time settings than the old one (apparently the new one was on Greenwich, while the old was on Central), so for a while it was timestamping the posts according to a different convention. So some posts have a timestamp later than they should be.
