Can I delete .lgc files?

Is it safe to delete application log files, or .lgc files from my laptop?
I’m trying to free up space.

Windows uses those files for optimization purposes. It is safe to delete them, but perfomance may suffer somewhat.

.lgc files are written to your system by add on programs not your Operating System. Windows will not be affected but the program that has written the program will either rewrite the file or fail. Check what program the .lgc file belongs to before deleting it and better yet keep them in your recycle bin to see what the detriment will be.

Wrong.

Each time Win98 starts, a small program called TaskMon runs. Its job is to keep track of which files are opened and read each time you launch an application. TaskMon’s log files are in the hidden \WINDOWS\APPLOG directory. Most of files you’ll find there have an LGC extension, which means they are log files for the C: drive (log files for a D: drive use an LGD extension). The name of the file corresponds to the name of the program that TaskMon is monitoring. For example, the log file for PowerPoint on my system is POWERPNT.LGC. The file APPLOG.IND tracks how many times an application has run.
