I know how to send text email to my phone. I know how to email pictures from my phone to my computer. But is there a way to email a picture from my computer to my phone? Now, I either use a USB cable or a card reader to transfer pics back and forth from my phone to my computer. My mom also has a USB cable and knows how to do it that way. She IMed me tonight wanting to know if there was a way to email a pic to her phone, specifically (in other words, not looking for alternatives ways to get a pic onto a phone–we already know those, including the vzwpix website).
Here’s a list of the phone providers and how they assign email addresses to your phone. I was able to send an .mp3 to my phone this way. If your phone is capable of recognizing a .jpg attachment in a regular phone-to-phone message, I don’t see why it wouldn’t recognize one in an email from somewhere else, unless it only accepts pictures in certain resolutions.
As I stated, I already know how to send email to the phone. The first thing she tried was emailing her phone with an attachment. Then she tried it embedded. The message would come through, the picture would not.
VZW customer here. I’ve done it, but I had to do a few handstands. I forget now what they were.
As for .mp3s, forget it. Verizon is a weenie company with scads of lawyers, and the music industry has been very good to them, what with pop ringtones and such. You don’t send music over VZW unless you pay for their music service and pick from their playlists.
Opal, just to make sure since you don’t state it explicitly: You’ll need to use yourmomsphonenumber@vzwpix.com as the address.
I have a Verizon Motorola phone, and I can do it. I have a friend with a T-Mobile Motorola, and I can send her pics. The trick seems to be making sure that the jpeg has a web-style encoding, which I do using Photoshop’s “Save for Web” option. If I don’t save it that way, my phone recognizes that it received a pic, but it can’t do anything with it.
I don’t know how you’d make sure the file is saved that way using other software, though, sorry.
Both my husband and I have had zero problems with emailing MP3s to our phones. As a matter of fact, I just made this my ringtone. I found that it works best when the mp3 is small (I think under 250kb), and then you just send it to YourPhoneNumber@vzwpix.com.
I have mah na mah na as my ringtone for when family members call me, and the muppets theme song for everyone else (except my boyfriend, who has a unique ringtone)
I made the opening of Thievery Corporation’s “Lebanese Blonde” (one of my favoritest songs) my ringtone for a while. Then, after a few weeks of that, I heard the song itself again, and was tense the whole time the song was one. I guess my subconscious was telling me to “ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE ALREADY!” I changed it pretty quick after that.
