Can I find out what happened to lost savings bonds if I don't have the serial number

There were several hundred dollars in savings bonds that I cannot find. The only info I have is the name on them. I don’t have the exact issue date or the serial number. I do have the value for most of them though.

I am not sure if they were cashed, or if they were misplaced. Is there anyway to figure out what happened to them online? Can I contact the treasury and find out or do I need the serial number and issue date?

Per Treasury Direct for EE bonds:
“Bond serial number – If you don’t have the bond serial number, provide all of the following:
Specific month and year of purchase
Social Security Number
Names, including middle names or initials
Mailing address”

So you seem to be stopped with the first factoid.
