I fell asleep last night with my scruncy wrapped around my wrist tight. when I woke up at 3:15am i almost didn’t notice until i got up and had to use my hand.
the area between and including my thumb and 1st finger is swollen, warm and red now, 3 hours after i removed the scrunchy. it feels a little numb, but functional. the numbness was what i noticed first. it seems to be getting better, but slowly.
think i did any permanent damage? is my hand gonna rot off? that would suck.
Assuming you’re a caucasian, if the tissue in your fingers “pinked up” sufficiently, you’ll be fine. I suggest alterntating cold and heat on your hand in 15-minute cycles to reduce swelling and promote circulation.
The question is: have you done an irrevoverableamount of damage. That seems unlikely, but frankly, what are you going to do if you did?
[Yeah, I know, seek immediate employ ment at someplace you can file for Workman’s Comp. I don;t want to know.]
Caucasian or not, simple test of distal blood circulation is to press on each nail until it blanches and see how long it takes to return to its normal tone. It should do so in a second or two. If it takes very much longer, mention it to your doctor. It could indicate any number of medical conditions, aside from you ‘incident’. 2-4 seconds isn’t a good finding, but its nothing to panic over. If it’s much longer than that, a doctor would want to look into why - and you should too!
