Can the Democrats win the Alabama senate special election in December?

Not true, Louie Gohmert has a soulmate in congress now, and liberals the world over have a more prominent lightning rod to focus our ridicule towards.

YEEHAW !!!

As a liberal, this is the song running in my head right now.

[/QUOTE] I've got Neil Young's "[Alabama](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD3bGEFxGC0)" running through my head. (Just 'a' wheel in the ditch? Neil, you're being too kind.)

Memo to Lynyrd Skynyrd: it may have hurt your feelings when “ole Neil put [Alabama] down,” but looks like he was right all along, doesn’t it?

You’re okay that he wants to make it illegal to be gay?

Republicans are staunch defenders of the U.S. Constitution, so naturally they’re happy to elect a guy who basically wiped his ass with it.

I wish you were right about that. If I get to go out and grab some guns, I’m going to melt them down and cast statues of Obama.

Moore lacks a basic understanding of American values. He seems to think his religious beliefs trump everything else and will not hesitate to use his power to oppress minorities and the LGBT community. It would be nice if the Democrat could win, but this is after all, Alabama.

Roy Moore only got 264,000 votes. His opponent, Doug Jones (D), ‘won big’ with 109,000 votes. Still, Three times as many Republicans voted in this primary than Democrats.

There are 3.7 Million people in Alabama of voting age.

I’m guessing that they vote for the one with the craziest ideas.

No offense meant to any Alabamans on the forum.

The only good thing about Moore is his age. If he does enter the Senate, he has to know that he doesn’t have a future there. So, he’s more likely to be spending his time making outrageous statements. So, having him saying ridiculous statements should help the Democrats going into 2018.

You’re kidding right? Moore will figure God will keep him alive for 400 years of reelections.

That’s going to happen anyway.

What are you talking about? Moore was totally Trump’s candidate, all that stuff about “endorsing” and huge funding from the Pubbie Establishment was totally fake news!

Trump has always endorsed Eastasia.

The gun-grabbers are currently in the majority, with the Christian Nation-ers not far behind. The anti-gun faction, though, are far smaller than the Christian Nation faction.

You might want to work on your phrasing, though: It almost sounded like you were objecting to your fellow gun-grabbers, there.

Wait - I thought “gun-grabbers” were the ones who want to confiscate guns, not the ones who grab their own guns at the drop of a hat? I’m so confused.

Do election results ever add up to %100?

The people who want to actually confiscate guns? Why would one even need a term for such a tiny and politically-insignificant minority? Clearly it means the people who actually do grab guns, like Charleton “Cold Dead Fingers” Heston.

He’s 70, but that’s not particularly old for a Senator. He can easily serve 2 or 3 terms.

 Moore is practically a Senator. His opponent’s views on late term abortion in an interview:

Q: “You wouldn’t be in favor of legislation that said ban abortion after 20 weeks, or something like that?” Todd asked.

A: “No, I’m not in favor of anything that is going to infringe on a woman’s right and her freedom to choose,” Jones said. “That’s just the position that I’ve had for many years, it’s the position I continue to have.”

I am so sure Alabama will vote for that.

That you’re so happy to cheer along someone who thinks gay people should be locked up for being gay is unfortunately not surprising, but it’s still revealing of what kind of American you are.

Gay people are in no danger of being locked up for being gay. Freedom of abortion no matter when in the term is espoused by a lot more legislators. So there’s the tradeoff.

CAN the Democrats win? Probably not. Part of me wishes they could, because Moore is such a moron.

But even a moderate/conservative Democrat would have an uphill climb. And the Democrat running against Moore ISN’T a moderate or conservative.

So if Roy Moore supported locking people up for interracial relationships, or locking Jews up for celebrating Jewish holidays, you’d still support him because of his position on abortion?
