And is there really any point in keeping either a subforum with no posts or a forum with locked posts only members can see?

Or just put it somewhere else. When you open MPSIMS, it’s there cluttering up the top of the thread list.
Yeah, can we? Put it down in the “Side Conversations” area so we don’t have to look at that inert indigo bar all the time. Pretty please.

I just realised something. If you click on “main” you see the BOO bar. If you click on STMB (which allows the Side Conversations view) the BOO bar disappears.
There’s an option for those of us who don’t want to see the BOO bar on the front page.
Added - the BOO forum doesn’t completely disappear on the STMB front page; it shows as a MPSIMS sub-forum.
Valuable page inches? Really?
It’s visual clutter between the top of the page and the start of stuff you actually want to read. It means scrolling the page down. That’s “valuable page inches”. Okay, I’m going to scroll anyway. It’s the principle!
Yes really. On a netbook or handhold device, no thread titles are visible at all until you scroll down - just these blue bars telling me about some locked forum.
Not just a locked forum, a locked forum with what appears to be no threads. (I think the viewing permissions got screwed up in the move.) What’s funny is that I doubt many people have noticed that there aren’t any threads in the forum. Why? Because no one’s clicking on it. Why? Because it’s a locked, topical forum on an uninteresting topic.
Why? Is it a technical problem, or a management decision?
The Boo! subforum is perhaps my favorite subforum on Earth…and possibly beyond. Please do not take it away. It brings me joy; it instills me with not only vim, but vigor, too. It is my raison d’etre. I don’t ask for much; don’t mess with Boo!.
Is it really going to stay like it is?
I have the Main page of the SDMB bookmarked as my landing place, and i get a large blue slash across the screen, above Marketplace and the BBQ Pit. I assumed that it would be removed or made invisible after a time.
Can’t it be put under Side Conversations, or maybe in a separate, Archive section below that? Having it deface the Main section like it does is completely ridiculous.
No, it’s not a “Side Conversation.” It’s a MPSIMS-y kind of forum and it’s right where it belongs.
Okay, let’s try this again, sorry about that – the Boo! forum is supposed to be:
- A subforum of MPSIMS.
- Read only.
I was not aware it wasn’t displaying threads.
It should be displaying properly now – you just can’t write to it.
