I’m pretty sure one spoiler said he was going to lose on the 9th. There was either a game that day, or it was the last before College Jeopardy, so you’d think he would have lost on the first day back. (As I posted, that did end up being the best game I’ve ever seen.) I’ll watch tomorrow and we’ll see. Of course I usually watch anyway.
I heard a tape of it on Stern this morning.
KenJen guessed. . .
FedEx.
And then Trebek goes, “in your FACE, LOSER!!!”
I think I had the stupidest guess of all. Mine was:
The NFL. I thought perhaps all those execs and ticket sellers etc. were white collar and probably numbered a whole lot more than they do.
I got it instantly when I heard about it (months ago), but then, my mother is one of those white collar workers, so it seemed completely obvious to me.
I successfully avoided this, until Neal Boortz (damn him!) announced it on his radio show today.
I take it tonight’s episode was not a runaway?
Bye Ken. You were a great contestant, unassuming and a good player. Quick on the button.
Sniff sniff…someone finally knocked off the Champ. Sniff sniff.
It seems like yesterday we were guessing the “incredible thing” that happens on Jeopardy might be Andy Kaufman’s return!
What I heard was that the woman had 10,000 and Ken had 14,000 (about). She went first in Final Jeopardy and got bumped up to 14,001 (1 more than Ken). He bet about 4 grand and missed it.
So clearly, Ken had an off night.
Here was my answer:
The Girl Scouts of America.
Do I get the reward for stupidest guess?
My first guess was Ben & Jerry’s.
Oh those crazy hippies.
I guessed Hickory Farms
The show is on at 3:30 Central Time, so it just ended.
As Madeline Kahn said, “It’s twoo, it’s twoo.” Congrats to Nancy and to Ken. I hope your record stands, unless I get myself on Jeopardy one of these days.
I wonder if Ken decided that $2.5M was enough and it was time to lose and get on with his life?
I was wondering the same thing… It’s gotta get kinda boring after a while, I’d think, not to mention just about impossible to have a real life of any sort.
Just got done watching it. I’ve been totally wrapped up in my first semester of law school and hadn’t even heard it was going to be today, so it was a complete surprise to yours truly. And yes, I guessed it correctly.
I had never watched a KenJenn episode of Jeopardy (it comes on at 3:30 here as well). I happened to be home from work early today and got to watch.
I kind of got taken by the moment. I thought knowing the ending would take away from it, but it didn’t. It was really awesome.
Did you hear the GASP coming from the audience when they revealed that he missed the question? WOW!
The respect (read: AWE) Nancy gave Ken when she won was nice. Giant killer indeed (plus, she’s one of those librarian types that me and my frat brothers used to swear were hot in the sack when we watched the show).
And Ken was classy in defeat. A nice hug and a big smile.
It had to end, and I’m sure it hurt him to lose even after all that time.
Tip of the hat to Ken.
He’s got them.
According to the ABC News article:
H&R Block has offered him free tax preparation for life.
No, but they’d said elsewhere to report the post above or below it, and to tell them what’s up in the Report Post screen.
Nailed it.
Not too many types of companies have white collar workers that are seasonal, so far as I know.
It just aired here in Orlando(ish.)
I feel like someone struck out Babe Ruth, or someone intercepted Dan Marino, or Lance Armstrong got a flat tire.
I guessed wrong too.
But if Ken had gotten both Double Jeopardies right…
Yeah, he was very reckless with his betting; that was weird.
