Can you help me identify this boot?

While waiting to get my hair cut today, I was reading the latest issue of People magazine (April 11). In it (on page 127, if anybody wants to look at the actual pic) was a photo of Sienna Miller wearing a pair of boots that I really like the look of. I snapped a pic with my camera phone (here)–can anybody identify them? (Since it’s a crappy pic, they look like they’re made of tan suede, and the straps are light brown smooth leather). I’d love to try to find a pair (or, more likely, a pair of cheap knockoffs, since if actresses are wearing them they’re probably way more expensive than I’d be willing to pay). I know this is a longshot, but the SDMB always seems to come through so I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

Since I have nothing better to do, I surfed through the Zappos.com boot selection to see if anything matched the pic. I’m pretty sure none of these match exactly but maybe you’ll find something you like:

If it’s a “posed” photo check the magazine again, I’ve noticed that they usually list every item of clothing (“Boots by Valgard”) somewhere - either in the article or near the table of contents.

Thanks for the effort! I appreciate it. A couple of those are actually pretty cool, so I might have to check them out if I don’t turn up anything on the ones in the pic.

Sorry about reviving this thread, but I have new information and thus want to alter my request for help.

I should have known before, but the best way to get information about a celebrity’s wardrobe is to find a fansite, which is what I did. They came through for me in short order, and now I know that my coveted boot is the Vivienne Westwood “pirate boot.” Apparently there’s more than one version–a heeled version which shows up in her current “Anglomania” collection and possibly a version without a heel (which is the one I really want, and which might be called the “Kate Moss Pirate Boot.”)

Anyway, I have zero experience with finding or obtaining designer goodies. I’d really rather have a knock-off version since the actual boot is quite pricey (~$750) but I like them so much I’d actually consider paying a decent chunk of money (like half-40% of that, maybe) for them if I can find them. So, my new questions are:

  1. It appears that VW only has shops in London, New York, and Los Angeles (I’m in San Jose), and I can’t find any contact info for the LA shop. Yahoo Yellow Pages doesn’t come up with anything. I wonder if it’s in some other town in the LA area (like Beverly Hills or something). Any idea how I might get this?

  2. Any idea where I might look for knock-offs? Apparently these boots were pretty popular and were often copied, but I haven’t been able to find any copies that look enough like the originals that I’d want them (I like the difference between the suede boot and the smooth leather straps in a different color).

I’ve checked Ebay already and will continue to do so (they have one pair of Kate Moss pirate boots but they’re the wrong color and the wrong size) but any other leads would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance! It’s weird–normally I ignore designer stuff, but these boots really appeal to me.

The problem is that it’s spring. These type of boots were popular last fall. Have you tried online discounters like Bluefly and SmartBargains?

This is about the closest I got in my search: http://www.zappos.com/n/p?dp=2286390&c=1758 Maybe you can find a good cobbler and have the strap dyed a darker brown?

Also, try Froogle. You’ll have to wade through pages and pages of results but you may get lucky.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. No dice on Bluefly or SmartBargains. I’m about to head home so I’ll give Froogle a try this weekend.

Those Zappos boots are nice but not quite the thing–the ones I’m looking for have several straps going all the way up the boot, with ends that stick out from the buckles. It’s a very distinctive look, unfortunately–and even more unfortunately, that’s exactly what I like about the boots.

Ah, well–the search continues. Fortunately I enjoy this sort of thing. I was pretty proud of myself for tracking the darn things down in the first place.
