Can you ID the actress in the Steppin' Out video?

I already found that page. Says he’s not affiliated with her in any way, so I don’t know that he’d have any better info than the rest of us.

I was thinking more in terms of finding out who used to be Ms. Rhodes’s agent, or do publicity for her. If they’re still in the biz, they might know.

Judging by her IMDb page, Ms. Rhodes has retired from show business. No agent or contact information.

What have we done? The video in the OP, which has been up on Youtube for over five years, has now been blocked by Sony Music.

Still, do people really think this woman looks like Cynthia Rhodes? I don’t see a resemblance.

Here it is from Joe Jackson’s VEVO account, so presumably safer from a copyright claim.

She’s wearing a lot of makeup and the lighting could be better, but yes, I think that woman and this woman are one and the same.

Yep, Cynthia Rhodes is MHO.

Richard Marx is on Twitter. If anyone’s willing to ask him about his ex…

You never get a clear front view of the woman’s nose in the video, only her profile. And it isn’t digital, so the quality leaves to be desired…

I still think it’s Marg. Unfortunately I cannot post some stills of the video that made me think so.

There are photo’s of Cynthia Rhodes (profile) on the internet:

I don’t think it’s the same nose as the woman in the Joe Jackson video…

Marg is on twitter… Anyone here on twitter too?

Oh good; it’s not just me.

I don’t think it’s Cynthia Rhodes. The woman in the video has a clearly upturned “pert” nose; Miss Rhodes (is she still “Miss Rhodes” even tho she was married to Richard Marx?) does not have an upturned “pert” nose.

I completely agree (I didn’t know the American-English term).

But with age (mid thirties) the tip of the nose drops somewhat, so an upturned nose becomes more straight.

Whoever she is, 35 years have passed…

The maid at first does seem to look different, but when comparing stills and pictures (or stills of Marg) it’s clear that both have the eyes a little bit farther apart and both have high cheekbones.

When the lyrics ‘‘You can dress in pink and blue just like a child’’ are sung, in the split second before the actress starts laughing she has the exact same mannerism Marg has (I don’t know how to call it). That’s why I thought it was her the first time I saw the video.
So I still think it’s Marg.

But I guess I’m the only one who thinks it’s her…or who thinks it could be her?

I bit the bullet and posted the question on that page. Let’s see what happens.

Hey! It’s Mrs. Bevin, from the lake!!

No, just kidding.

Jessica Lange?

I found a Pop Up Video transcript and even it doesn’t ID her (just refers to her as “Actress”) and that was probably written and researched just 10 years or so after the video came out…

Hence we can rule out anybody remotely famous. E.g., Jessica Lange. (Plus she was in Frances and Tootsie in 1982. She was really well known then.)

It’s not that hard to find cites to Nichole Kidman appearing in Bop Girl. And that’s quite obscure.

A commenter on the Vevo video said it was a different medical examiner in Inspector MorseAmanda Hillwood. She doesn’t seem to have the nose of the maid, but Hillwood has a mole/beauty mark/something to the left of her lip that the maid might have. The video’s in low resolution, but I can convince myself I see the bump in a few of the shots.

However, I would guess the maid is left-handed, based on her cleaning the mantle and ashtray (filmed in a mirror), grabbing the glass on Joe’s dresser, and spinning clockwise in her room. Hillwood isn’t. So, I’ve no clue. Sorry!

That is not Cynthia Rhodes if you all would get on Google and type in pics of Cynthia Rhodes you will see that she bares no resemblance of the maid in Joe Jackson’s video Steppin Out. Cynthia Rhodes did star in Toto’s music video Rosanna go watch it.

I went to school with her in Rockland County NY. She graduated 2 years before me. My best memory is her first name is Jeannie. When she was younger she was a model for Sears and other catalogs. She did commercials (I’m not aware of any TV or movie rolls) such as this Canon Typewriter one 1984 Canon Typewriter Commercial - YouTube a shampoo commercial (not sure which one) and a Log Cabin syrup when she was very young. Best that I can remember.

Wow, that looks right. How did you happen upon the thread?
