Zette-y. I think my problem stems from my early driving years. I always thought it was “a man’s duty” to drive the lady around. My wife does not object to my insistance to drive and she does commute much longer distances than me, so she likes not having to drive.
As far as a control issue, well, I have no control over my wife. We are both very independant.
My car (OK, I admit it, my minivan) I drive.
Wife’s car (OK, souped up pocket rocket) she drives.
It’s not about power, it’s not about car sickness, it’s not a male/female thing. We both hate getting in and adjusting the seat. My wife is 5 foot 2 and I’m 6 foot 5. If she drives my van, I get the wind knocked out of me by the steering wheel if I get in quickly. Once she sits down, she can’t reach the lever if I put her seat back far enough in her car.
BTW - My wife is one of the best drivers I have ever met. She once went 187,000 miles on the same clutch.
