Every since I was a kid I have heard people say you should not sit on concrete walls or the ground because the cold surface can ‘give’ you piles. (haemorrhoids).
Is there any grain of truth to this piece of common ‘wisdom’?
After a quick check via Google, I’d say that while it used to be a belief that piles were caused that way (the cold causing rectal veins to be affected), this no longer seems to be part of of the list of causes today.
