Can you tell me the title of this book?

Non-fiction, within the last 10 years. Written by a young woman who one day got a terrible pain in her eye and has since lived with intractible pain, which has affected her life in a terrible way. She went to endless doctors, had endless tests, including psychiatric exams. She described in this book her exploration of every single thing she could think of to reduce her pain. Drugs, herbal remedies, yoga, acupuncture, biofeedback, meditation, more drugs. Last I read, she found that sniffing oil of lavender and leading a simple, stress free life, and of all things watching something calming like PBS Antiques Roadshow, lessened her pain. She did say at the end her hope was that Big Pharma would someday come out with something.

Was it All in My Head? I know you said eye pain, but I seem to remember the author saing

Ugh, sorry for the truncated post. Dumb tablet. I seem to remember the author saying the pain was around (behind?) her eye.

Sounds like a real downer of a reaad…

YES, that is the one. Thank you. It started when she put a contact lens in, and she got a headache forever after. Poor woman :(:(:frowning: I often think of her (when I get headaches) and wonder whatever became of her, if she ever found any relief.

I had an entertaining email exchange with her when the book came out. I was a bookseller at the time and also a fellow migraineur. She seemed like a very nice and funny lady. I hope she got some relief!

She sent me an e-mail, just said she was drinking a little coffee several times a day, still had the headache, but was married with two kids now. I said I wish her well.
