I have no idea if NetFlix has it, but The Collector is very good. A medieval monk makes a deal with the Devil, and ends up assigned a job collecting the souls of other people who’ve made deals. Eventually, he gets tired of this, and comes to an agreement - he’ll be given the 48 hours that each person is given to watch their world come crumbling down (or else just say ‘take me now’), in order to help the person try to redeem themselves by fixing the misfortune their deal caused for others. Sometimes he succeeds, sometimes he fails - sometimes because the person just doesn’t want to give it up, sometimes because the Devil doesn’t play fair, and they’ve no idea who got the misfortune.
The most fun thing about it is, the Devil is played by a different actor in each episode, due to taking a different guise in order to approach Morgan - one episode he’s a little girl, another a cab driver, yet another he’s a bum, for just a few examples.
I was also going to mention Lost Girl, which has less coarse language and nudity than it should, IMO, but is still very entertaining, and Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil, which also has less coarse language and nudity than it should (it did have a cock monster, though, which was… disturbing), but is still very entertaining. Can’t go wrong with either of those shows.
I don’t think anyone else has mentioned SCTV . Any show that features a cast of budding superstars like that needs to be given full props for being awesome. Gotta like any program with John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Catherine O’Hara, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty, Harold Ramis, Martin Short, and Andrea Martin.
I loved You Can’t Do That on Television. Torture, murder, executions, constant mockery of Moose; all just good wholesome fun for kids. And I was sweet on Moose, then Alanis. Alanis turned out to be an interesting woman. Dunno what happened to Moose.
The Hilarious House of Frightenstein is pretty unforgettable. Billy Van, Billy Van, Billy Van, Billy Van, and Vincent Price.
Got to third Made in Canada for the OP - it strikes me as having a similar sense of humour to Corner Gas. I personally love Rick Mercer and he has been on several major Canadian shows but I don’t think most Americans know who he his - you’ll either love him or hate him.
I also like Little Mosque on the Prairie but I haven’t seen all that many episodes. Kids in the Hall is a classic but in a very different vein than the shows mentioned by the OP.
I have a couple DVDs of HHoF. Fantastic stuff. Filmed here in Hamilton, Ontario, and Vincent Price would come up and film all his parts for an entire season, then go back to California. Loved the Librarian (“Did I scare you, children?”) and Grizelda (sp?) the Ghastly Gourmet. Billy Van, wonderful entertainer.
In a completely different vein, I would also second the recommendation of “Cold Squad”.
I’m really enjoying this season. It’s setting up to wrap up the series, and bringing back some faces we haven’t seen in awhile Plenty of shows are filmed in Canada but this one is set there and feels like it. I happened to like last season, but it’s worth it just watching the first three if you are worried about it.
