Canadian TV series worth watching?

The Murdoch Mysteries set in 1895 Toronto, where Detective William Murdoch a good-looking proto-geek uses early forensics to solve mysteries. Guest appearances by Tesla, Houdini, and Arthur Conan Doyle. Great fun. The series is much better than the original set of movies which had a different cast.

That’s what it’s about? I always assumed it was about a crazy separatist, or an imaginative child, from the title.

Twitch City - filmed in Toronto’s Kensington Market and with a cameo by Al Waxman, The King of Kensington.

And in the K of K vein, how about The Trouble with Tracy?

If you’re going to bring up my childhood, then I have to add The Raccoons.

Only a few of the series mentioned are available on Netflix. I just ordered a copy of Little Mosque first season from Amazon to give it a try.

Oh my mother watches these. She loves them.

Well, IMHO, The Trouble with Tracy is worth watching only to see how thoroughly awful our TV productions once were. From the show’s Wikipedia entry:

Yup, have to agree with that. Like watching a train wreck…

I enjoyed watching “Seeing Things” on PBS back in the early 80’s. You can find clips on Youtube…

The Border is pretty good.

For animation, I suggest 6teen.

Nicely done.

When I found HHoF on DVD I felt like my life was complete! That was the one show that I would wake up early to watch on Saturday mornings as a young kid. When I got a new ferret in 2005, I named her Grizelda in honour of the late great Billy Van. Absolutely brilliant television! In fact, I think that will be part of my Halloween viewing for the weekend

Oh yeah, I loved Red Green. I love Steve Smith’s laid-back, slip in a zinger while you aren’t watching sense of humour.

“Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down/
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on”

The Littlest Hobo. :frowning:

I’m a big fan of That’s So Weird. This is one of those shows I only picked up on because my kids were watching it, but I think I find it funnier than they do.

I also love Made in Canada, as well as Slings and Arrows.

I’m watching Durham County now – all three seasons are available on DVD. I’ve only seen the first episode and part of the second. It’s pretty intense. I like all the characters, even Prager. With Prager, “like” means he’s compelling, because what an ass! What’s wrong with his wife that she stays with him?

I skimmed IMDB – don’t want to be totally spoiled – and there’s a thread in the forum entitled “The finale blew”. I hope that doesn’t mean Prager gets away.

SCTV

Even though this is a bit of a zombie thread, I’ll add another vote for Seeing Things. I haven’t seen it in a long time, but it was a great funny mystery show.

O.P. is still here; this is not a zombie thread so far as I’m concerned.

I used to watch E.N.G. when I was in college. I enjoyed it back then but it’s probably been almost twenty years since I’ve seen it.
